Catch up system for pvp

I hope 9.1.5 comes with some catchup mechanic because gearing a 200ilvl toon in pvp at this moment is depressing.

Facing 240geared people nonstop at 0 CR. and to get cap of 5750 we need to win 160+ games… what a joke

I did half of the season cap on my fresh rshaman and i agree, it is so slow and useless i rather have armor thats only usable in pvp then to suffer for a week before being ready

; old cap gain should be increased to 300% if you ask me

there were rumors of 9.1.5 increasing old conquest’s cap gain and removing honor cap, but i don’t think they will

Honor is the issue, even if you quickly climb/get carried to 2100, you still need to farm for days to get all that gear ranked up.

I wonder what thought process had the designer of this ilvl gaps in gear. I really wonder if he thought that we would have fun.

This system wasn’t designed with 8 month seasons in mind.

I don’t think they have any “working system” for PvP besides VISA catchup.

System is just designed by interns. its the only reasonable excuse for it being this bad. Except for that other excuse, which would be much more depressing: developers are clueless and dont play their own game

it is really nuts how scuffed gearing up alts is. conquest gains are sooo slow, which is tolerable when you just need the 550 but immediately ridiculous when you’re looking at a 5k cap with no catch-up. plus there’s no catch-up for all the vaults you’ve missed.

they really should at least double conquest gains when you’re behind.

The idea is to catch-up gradually with the quests/dailies, not gear up in 6 hours sitting afk in a 40 man raid if you catch where I’m going with this.

No PVE player gets their gear caught up in less than a month without a lot of help.

it’s different in pve since you just get carried and get gear funneled to you. pve also isn’t versus other players so it isn’t frustrating in the same way to be behind. you attack the boss the same way.

but ya it can be rough to reroll as a pve player too if you don’t have any contacts. in any case, i don’t think it sometimes taking a while to catch up in pve is a good argument for why it should be the same in pvp.

my alt rogue has now played 76 games and i’ve done the world pvp quests. that’s given me a fourth of the cap available to me. each 2s win gives me 25, so 12.5 per game on avg. at this rate i’ll need like 300 games, and even then i’m still behind on all the vaults. it’s ridiculous that running into the arena with 30k hp and facing people who have 50k goes on for so long.

It’s just weird, especially when former devs already came to the conclusion that gear tied to rating was bad for the game.

The worst part about it is that they don’t even respond to the playerbase, zero communication. That gives this whole thing a “we don’t listen to you and we also don’t really care about you” vibe.

Look at how quick they changed the system, because PvE players felt forced to do PvP. Yet they cba to respond to thread dating back to Legion and act on all the overwhelming feedback.

I believe the biggest issue is you cannot readily find a community [like a raid guild] large enough to run rated bgs with and on top of that a lot of players have already quit and RBGs have taken a hit games per day wise.

Rated bgs were the quickest way to get caught up and you could easily boost 1-2 players in them, in a way like a heroic/mythic raid.

The alternative of course is to increase the conquest per win until you’ve caught up to the current week, which I think they’re doing in 9.1.5? [unsure]

People hate BFA, but with scaling and easy M+ key u can catchup like in week - two with fresh dinged alt with solo gameplay. In Legion in 1 weekend.

Yes but they talked about how alt friendly shadowlands would be in interview and they wouldn’t make same mistake as in BFA. Gearing 1 char for a first time thru this system is whatever. But when it comes to alts I fail to see how does it matter if season lasts 8 month or 4. This system is just isn’t alt friendly at all and it isn’t fun going thru all this upgrades, considering how much effort you have to put to reach the end.

for me a problem in pvp is that you can’t carry in a way that matters. whether you’re farming conquest at 1100 or 1800 doesn’t matter since it’s not any faster and you just upgrade stuff later. but yeah rbgs were pretty fast whenever i did those a bit. in pve you just join the heroic run and loot 2 items, get 4 traded to you and get 1 from the vault. there are no shortcuts in pvp.

I mean they could just have removed the honor cap so that our chars have like 50k and can Upgrade to full if needed.
