Where are the details on all the catchup systems that are needed for new/returning players?
Faster renown
More soul-cinders/ash for each torghast
Conduit upgrades? outside of that m+20 one
Or are you seriously going to try to make new or returning players go through more renown grinding or more torghast again after they already left the game?
And you expect anyone to keep doing korthia for more conduit upgrades for those who dont do high end contend?
If any of these have been adressed I apoligies but I want answers regarding this, I so so much want to play my alts and these are the 3 reasons I dont (also dom shards).
Unfortunately at present a new/returning player is expected to do the full grind for renown. The catch up mechanics are mainly aimed at alts.
Some skips have been put in to bypass some requirements to get people to Korthia as fast as possible. I presume something similar will come in for Zereth Mortis but I’ve not seen any information on that yet.
Hopefully returning players will get the same popup quest to do ZM as an existing player but I have not been able to find any requirements.

imagine how i feel… not played at all since 9.0 if i rejoined now to catch up … just thinking about makes me want to punch a puppy.,
this expansion is very very bad to returning players … who are already struggling with the idea of having to catch up at all in a expansion which just isnt fun.
Forget about returning players. I’ve been here all along and my rank 4 Korhia gear feel horrible. How do I replace it in 9.2 and will I feel just as awful in that gear?
In BFA I had ilvl 450 from Warfronts and NZoth invasions etc. I had some coruption thing on my boots that put tentacles on the ground that did great damage. Even though I wasn’t raiding or M+ing I felt strong enough to do stuff.
A friend who recently left the game, possibly for good, said the same thing:
For me, Korthia was bad with regard to: Tricky landscaping that pushed towards dense packs of mobs (which were barely ok at 2v1, awful above that) The fact the game pushed me to kill the same ones day in day out, week in week out, before other better geared/skilled players moved on made them even more annoying. So it became about how best to dodge the mobs and race across the map before a rare was killed before I got to it.
I actually liked locating the proper Korthia history items, each with a mini description/story, not so much the tree climbing (my coordination takes time so hurrying before they disappear - bloody warlock gates in the way too )
The rep did seem to take a very long time, felt like I couldn’t take little breaks and go back to it, as other players would be gone, and the situation would become impossible. Although they did take out some mobs with the patch and it emptied of players.
Current catch-up is more than enough and there won’t be any new renown levels.
Current drop rates are already decent imo, the timegating was completely removed and you won’t need more cinders or ash for the tier 7 upgrade
Idk about that but the PTR isn’t complete yet.
For instance they added a few days ago a new item on the rep vendor : If you clear mythic, do a +20 dungeon or reach glad or elite in ranked PvP you can buy an item which sets all your conduits to mythic ilvl instantly.
I do hope they’ll bring a more casual version of that upgrade but afaik there’s currently no way to upgrade from 252 to 286 beside that item. Obviously they don’t intend us to all clear mythic so I’d expect that to be added in a future PTR update.
That’s not how blizz usually implements grinds so that’s unlikely. It’s very likely that the 9.2 zone will have its own drops & items altho I sincerely hope they’ll drop the concept of random upgrades, that’s just awful.
Dom are completely disabled outside of 9.1 content. But you can still use them in the future to run SoD for example.
You get it from something as simple as callings now, you can also do torghast for it & higher droprate in dungs i think
Timegating removed, have fun
… Do korthia? why would we need catchup on something thats current content
I love grinding renown, nowadays when im bored i jump on alts to do renown 40-76 for the 3 wisps that b00sts follower xp, if thats too much for new players then a grindy mmo isn’t for them tbh
We can only hope. 9.2 will be a big indicator of how well they are moving the game for 10.0 and beyond. If the grind is remotely close to the Korthia grind I doubt I’ll be getting 10.0 when it launches (maybe later when they introduce catch up or mitigate their grinds).
So there’s no RNG whatsoever on the new gear vendor nor any rep requirement. And these items can have some pretty powerful perks so having a vendor to access them is great imo.
Yet despite the items dropping from rares and quests at a higher ilvl the prices are kinda expensive. We’re probably talking about a few days of farm for each piece. (~5 currency per rare or chest, between 150 & 250 iirc per piece)
That said two things to keep in mind :
This could be a bad luck protection feature rather than the main source of gear. It all depends on the drop rates & I didn’t try the PTR zone myself so I can’t really tell.
They were just added to the PTR and the zone is not yet complete so nothing is set in stone yet.
So it doesn’t sound as bad as korthia but it could imo be better.
Hmm. Might be tolerable for my main but my alts will remain ungeared if it’s like this.
In BFA my main was ~450 with Warfronts and N’Zoth invasions and similar gear but my alts were mostly ~380 - 400 with Benthic gear.
This time it looks like my main might just get the equivalent of Benthic and my alts will stay in questing gear.
Why tho ? I mean crafted gear is still on the table & the benthic equivalent comes with korthia, which has its imo bigger issues even now than the 9.2 gear.
