Any chance of getting this as baseline/talent? The heal isn’t super great or anything, but it does help when playing Mage solo.
They’ll maybe add it as a soulbind. Farming the same borrowed power effect three expansions in a row is fun gameplay.
It would make a nice replacement for Blazing Soul/Mana Shield/Glacial Insulation and a decent competitor to Shimmer.
Cauterizing Blink
Casting Blink heals you for 15% of your maximum health over 4 seconds. Effect is halved in PvP combat.
Yay/nay?
I WANT to say that sounds good, but I quite like Glacial Insulation. 200% armor and free barrier after using ice block is a lot better than a really weak heal over time in PvP. It would definitely make sense to go there, but I don’t know how I feel about replacing it.
The talent was supposed to synergise with Shimmer back in Legion, though.
Could replace shimmer
Since they are messing with it so hard
It was a Fire only artifact trait, not a talent.
We need things that don’t synergise with Shimmer, to make it so that it’s not go-to talent for almost every situation. I feel having a Blink heal in direct competition would be a good way to go about it.
Ah, sorry, I meant to say trait.
I doubt that. If blazing shield activating after a blink is no competition, then neither is the possible blink heal being added in the same row.
Maybe at present. But if you consider the further nerf to Shimmer in Shadowlands as well as the fact that Cauterizing Blink isn’t dispellable like our barrier spells, I could see it being competitive in both PvE and PvP.
Over a 10 minute period using Blink/Shimmer on CD you get: -
-
41 Shimmers in Legion (4/minute + second charge)
-
31 Shimmers in BFA (3/minute + second charge)
-
25 Shimmers in SL (2.4/minute + second charge)
-
40 Blinks (4/minute)
I admit this isn’t exactly the most realistic example, since it’s rare for Blink/Shimmer to be used on cooldown, but you can see how bad Shimmer is becoming in comparison to Blink and how much healing even a minor heal could provide over a prolonged fight (600% hp over 10 minutes).
