Cavern of time quest needs many changes

Yes? It isn’t griefing in this game because blizzard say so.

Dude, are you even aware that griefing is not a real word? It’s a made up word with various definition in different games. It not a real word in the English language and doesn’t have an official definition.

Blizzard don’t choose language or definition. Blizzard can’t tell you what is or isn’t funny, nor can they tell you what is or isn’t bad. They can’t tell you what is right or what is wrong and they can’t tell you that an apple is an orange.

Funnily enough, all words are made up and language is an ever evolving thing.

Next point?

Yes they do… it’s their game and their EULA. They tell use what is and isn’t allowed and what words have what definition in this game and this context. For example, they have specifically said that corpse camping lowbies is not harassment or griefing because it’s allowed and griefing is not allowed. Calling that griefing is a contradiction. If it is griefing it’s not allowed but it is allowed so it can’t be griefing.

Point is that there is no official definition in the English language like other words have. There is no one definition, there are many. So you have to use the definition for the specific time and context. In this specific topic and context, the word griefing is not applicable and are demonstrable wrong.

Then get your raid to cover each other when doing it. Or make the quest in off peak times.

You can’t really compare the two situations, though.

Dispelling does feel like griefing partly because there’s next to nothing you can do to stop it. Even if you have your entire raid protecting you, that doesn’t necessarily stop an enemy priest from ressing and dispelling you immediately before getting killed again.

In the escort quest situation, though, it’s perfectly plausible for your friends/guild to protect you while you’re doing the quest. If you still get killed regardless (perhaps because the opposing faction has numeric advantage, or are just stronger), well that’s how WPvP works. Having to establish control over a zone in order to accomplish stuff is one of the main dynamics of WPvP.

Except by rolling on a PvP server you waver the right by TOS for certain “Grieving”
You getting killed by doing an escort? Bring a party. Party getting killed, get a bigger party or multiple parties. I’m actually looking forwards to the Caverns of time escort because i know it will be a 24/7 gank fiesta.

It’s not so much comparing the situations as it is comparing the mindsets.

What do you get from dispelling people? Nothing, just the knowledge that you’ve annoyed someone and wasted their time.

What do you get from locking down an important escort quest? Nothing, just the knowledge that you’ve annoyed someone and wasted their time.

It’s not like OSRS’s clanman mode where locking down something like Shilo Village actually increases your chances of winning, as the people doing it really don’t gain anything.

I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be allowed though; I’m all for players interacting with the game as they see fit (albeit within the game’s actual limitations), and I firmly believe that if somebody has a problem with either of them that they shouldn’t play on a PVP server.

But things should really just be called what they are. If people are doing something purely to cause grief, they are a griefer. Whether they gain anything from it is irrelevant.

I mean, you could say the same about WPvP as a whole. And I do feel the same as you, but that’s why I play on a PvE realm in the first place.

WPvP was never meant to be fair. That’s what instanced PvP (and possibly duels) is for.

A lot of words are like that, mostly the newer ones, what it means is going out if your way to make someone else’s gaming harder or stymying them.

Actually you could say it’s a version of the word Grief.

And everyone is going to wanna do the escort quest in Zangamarsh, and everyone is going to kill hellboars in Hellfire, or run to instances, or hell, go through the Dark Portal. If you believe you’re gonna see Honor Hold or Thrallmar after a few hours on a pvp server you’re going to be in for a shock.

PvP is gonna happen on a PvP server, to be expected. Just because someone doesn’t share your view it’s suddenly a low IQ response. Go read your threads in the mirror then if you can’t handle other people telling you how it is in their opinion.

Moving on.

The oldschool “Pvp happened on a PVP server”

Doesn’t it have OP guards like Moonglade?

PvP in Moonglade is pretty rare even during Lunar Festival.

PVE scrubs be like “roll a pve server or bring a party” kek
This quest is too important. Back in phases 4-5 you could only get to HoH island (whatever it’s called) to buy consumables if you had 3 full raids with you. If you dodn’t, you could enjoy being corpse camped untill its 4 am server time. And at the start of TBC this escort quest would be even worse.

If you are playing on a server with a toxic guild that has numbers, aka 60+ members who can play the game 16 hours a day (as in any pvp server that is not dead) you can take my word for it - this guild will be living in the caverns all the time and whining on server discord about how unfair the other faction is so they had to do it.
I don’t mind being corpse camped by a raid for hours when I’m doing something optional, but this quest was made back in the day when such “toxicity” as people in this thread say wasn’t a thing. Everyone already agreed on #somechanges, well, changing caverns into non pvp zone or buffing up guards is as welcome as giving alliance paladins a new seal.
Or are we being selective again?

I mean, you are, but whatever.

And anyway, will it be even required? In 2.4 they removed all attunement requirements

Ofc it will lol. Attunements are a BIG part of TBC so they will be in. 2.4.3 won’t mean it’s a blatant copy of the final week of TBC. The powerful badge gear from later patches in TBC won’t be available at launch for example.

The sway of streamers and ‘Youtube influencers’ is seen here, as in so many other things. They urged their thousands of fans, who follow them like sheep, to roll on PvP servers for the ‘real WoW’, who in turn spread the message over the wider player-base where it spread exponentially, forcing Blizzard to open a batch of new PvP servers to stem the tide.

Only later did these thousands of easily-manipulated drones learn the harsh reality of playing on an active PvP server.

I find it had to feel any sympathy for anyone who rolls on a PvP server and complains about being ganked. What were they expecting to happen?

There was actually a time when excessively corpse camping somebody was considered harrassment and would result in a punishment.

I’m not exactly sure when that rule was changed, not that Blizzard would uphold it now even if it still existed.

Yes. The baseline of the game is 2.4.3, but they’re manually tweaking some things. Attunements will be back temporarily (the attunement restrictions will be lifted in later phases) and we’ll even be getting pre-nerf encounters (Albeit, with unfair/unfun mechanics being tweaked. I.E. no Mu’ru spell pushback, and likely no 360 degrees cleaves on mobs)

classic wow is not a solo game as fail retail, so you shouldn’t be going alone to do that quest in the first place, go with your guild/friends & enjoy engaging the enemy then feels the satisfaction after completing that quest.
