While its nice that your stuff doesn’t randomly break now, the issue was never that the CC broke too easily.
The issue in modern WoW is all the random procs, aoe grabage and other uncontrolled damage sources. I genuinely don’t understand how they’ve allowed the game to get out of hand to this point. And at this point it isn’t even just PvP anymore, its PvE as well. People pull 15-20 mob packs, and every class that is target capped or doesn’t have reliable cc to knock/stun everything is just unplayable.
And the playerbase hates the notion of pruning, even if that, at this point, is the only way you could bring sensible gameplay and decision making into the game again. Warrior does NOT need 2 charges, leap + speed, 2 stuns, bladestorm, etc etc
And similarly, mage does not need 2 blocks 4 blinks, alter + alter blink, all the instant dam + aoe they do combined with the cc
There used to be a time where you traded damage for control + mobility. What happened lol?
To go back on the CC break topic, I can pre-sacrifice a mage poly, and go stand on top of a blizzard, and it’ll genuinely take 2-3 seconds before the poly breaks. That is astronomically stupid.
Agreed with all points. Random procs, aoe garbage. It’s hilarious that you can no longer kill in a proper cc chain (too short), while a solid 30 seconds of a PvE rotation ramp up with no cc can absolutely delete someone for no reason. There’s nothing that separates Arena from a dungeon. I feel like spellbook pruning is not enough at this point. The awful 100 talent choice tree is an issue as well. Also the middle tree is unnecessary. They are all aimed at AoE. A simple spell turns into a 10man cleave with additional 50 modifiers which means you have to track 50 buffs through Weak Auras. Don’t get me started on the PvE tier sets which are essentially just a dice roll. Imagine the sets would simply give you 1000 vers proc in PvP or something.
To the main point the cc change was awful mostly aimed at rogue mage, so now you can die in a gouge and sheeps wont break. Exactly what the game needed.
He could of break the chain before the first sheep,he had gcd for swd.But in reality OP is right.

Blizzard tuned every class/spec in the game for M+,and like that they totally f up PvP/Arena gameplay.Because of PvE carebears who want every spec to have CC/Interrupt and atleast 2 Def CDs.Now we got this abomination gameplay in PvP.
I agree with most of what you say, the the classes have simply too much tools right now. I want some pruning, especially on modifiers, but if mobility and cc get pruned too it would be great. I think mop CC is too much.
In reality nothing will happen.Ion doesnt care at all for PvP players.They develop the game for Raiders and M+ players and they dont care at all how that will affect rest of the game.Actually they even f up Raiding and raiders in favor of M+.
The way to fix the game is first Ion to be gone.
After that to prune micro CCs and some Def CDs.
And from now on you balance classes/specs modifiers(maybe prune some)
Mage is just insane currently,he can db into 3x sheep the healer,into Icewall and then stand close to wall to blast wave you back behind the wall.So in reality Mage can CC you alone for over 20 sec.And between CC casts he does insta casts that hit for alot,so Mage doesnt even trade his dmg for all this CC

It’s not overbloated compared to current retail. Btw feral druid was surviving all this long insane cc chain. And I didn’t see if he even used derspersion? Cause he could even live longer lmao
But watching gameplay of other streamers (minpojke/blackfireze/jealybeans) I dont see this kind of crazy cc chains. It’s literally same as retail before DF. Nobody does triple dr fears and clones. Mages doesnt spam sheep entire team (compared to TWW and DF with infinite haste)
Also this clip is best example how should pvp be in this game. Going for cc = losing dmg. Doesn’t stop long casted cc spells = lose game
IMO this is perfectly balanced expansion
Having played through the pruning era (WoD/Legion/BFA) as well as Classic, I personally never want to see pruning return. It was a shame to lose so many tools and complexity from classes. We’ve got 20+ years of class design, there’s no reason core combat tools should be missing.
Better to keep kits rich and fix the CC issue in another way. For example, have AoE damage only count ~33% toward the break threshold for fear, poly, incap etc , while singletarget CC should work like it did before the change (lower threshold). That way we keep the tools without the chaos.
but keep in mind, u deal most likely with only solo shuffle enthusiasts what wanna win by just doing dmg
even funnier the feral facetanked the whole dmg without going behind the pillar for once, hybrid offhealing is crazy in mop
it´s a cherry picking clip, the enemy what they have played against is called godcomp, and this comp have the name for a reason
it also have a high skill cap, and its build around a perfect cc chain + a high amount of peel.
they scored a kill by an good amount of cc chain, while the feral facetanked, and used dispersion at 4% hp instead using it 1 sec before shatter happend, thats how it should be.
yeah legion pruning was too much but i would like to see a pruning in a way when it comes to a duration increase to Stormbolt, but u only can choose between shokwave or Stormbolt, and not having both using shokwave as an pseudo interrupt isnt good gamedesigne
make Defensive cd´s stronger, but increase the cd a bit (again)
Pruning was bad because Blizzard randomly removed abilities, including iconic abilities, turning most specs into an unrecognizable and jumbled mess, that still was very similar to all other specs, despite “class fantasy”, with half of all specs having a combo points/finisher gameplay.
