So, I might be in the minority here, but hear me out.
I played original MoP. I was studying and living abroad at the time, and to me LFR was the perfect way to raid when I had the time for it. LFR had it’s problems, sure, but I still enjoyed it as a casual player with limited time.
The celestial dungeons are honestly terrible. They feel like a very lazy workaround to a problem that never really existed. Having done them now for about a week I’m already fed up with both the dungeons themselves but more so the damn annoying Klaxxi dude with his abilities that doesn’t really add anything interesting. It doesn’t really make anything harder. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the dungeon. All it adds is an annoying voiceover and some ability that no one really cares about. You could have made every single boss encounter have different abilities and not just re use the same ones over and over and over. ”this is a technique of a blade lord” following by spinning mindlessly is beyond stupid.
I also don’t get the point of the buffs you choose and the beginning on each dungeon. What’s the point of them? If the encounters are tuned for them, they add nothing at all to mthe experience. I honestly don’t even realize when the one I take for my warrior even procs. It’s just bad game design.
So yeah, I’d rather have LFR. Celestial Dungeons are terrible.
Well at least you are somewhat familiar with basic boss abilities in Hearth of Fear to join a normal run. With LFR most of those abilities would be cut out.
lfr was bad ideea. you can do bosses once per week and get locked out.
with celestial you can get your transmog and some nice gear so people will accept you in normal raid
LFR is trash and not actually playing the game. It’s almost impossible to wipe despite most people afking and people are obligated to do it when its released for a chance at gear which usually goes to some trashcan. I would rather put in time and effort into celestial dungeons and get something for it.
I’d say the same thing about celestial dungeons. They’re way too easy, the klaxxi doesn’t fit into most of them lore-wise and it doesn’t matter if people are AFK in them either.
Oh, but we actually do. If given the option most competitive players would choose celestial as they are more efficient and in controllable environment. LFR was pure chaos with completion time varying to the extremes sometimes.
Someone who doesnt raid and is forced to run celestial dungeons for sigils i am starting to get burnt out of cele dungeons. Buffs you get is quite fun and love to play with them, but the klaxxi debuffs are mainly a annoyance. Thing i waited the most start of this expansion is the reason i probably gonna take a break and wait for catch up mechanic for sigils :[
what about ppl who dont have the time to join a raid guild cos they have random work times and cant follow a schedule but still wanna follow the story?
seriously stop looking at things from such a narrow sighted pov. we´re no longer the sweaty bums from 20 years ago. we´re old now. we have jobs, obligations…
there is no reason why we cant just have both. what do you lose when LFR is in the game? dont wanna do it? well dont do it but let ppl who cant join regular raiding have it.
personally im not even the raiding type of guy. im more on the pvp side of things but LFR was a great way to experience the story while not having to dive deeper into the mechanics required for regular raiding. the gear from it was always useless anyway as far as i remember so how does it hurt you when its in the game? LFR is not taking anything away from you by beeing in the game. it does add alot for a sizeable chunk of the playerbase tho.
I don’t know who was surveyed, but a major complaint of Cataclysm and onwards was LFR. That is why they replaced it with something more active and better. I don’t feel that strongly about it but I have done it and I know exactly how it goes, a couple people showing off and the rest looking at their other monitor.
And 3 hours every week is not too much to ask lol, dont act like the average casual works 80 hours a week. And yes these guilds exist that only raid once a week (its made of the people you are talking about, with obligations etc)
LFR isnt like pet battles which actually doesnt affect anyone if he doesnt want to do it. It effects normal mode raiders a lot.
And yea as mentioned in this thread: 80% of the roster in LFR is afk or dies on purpose. + the queue would be insanely long with celestials being there aswell.
funny that you say that cos i just came out of a 84h work week. 7 days a 12h, now i have 5 days off then its back to work for 5 days then 2 days off then 6 days work then 5 days off and so on. you see how that wont work with literally ANY raiding schedule? yes 3 hours a week is no problem. (most of the time) the same 3 hours every week however? yea not gonna happen.
basically as soon as you move outside of the regular corporate slave 9am to 5pm window LFR becomes your only feasable option if you wanna experience the story. its literally just for that as the gear from it is hot garbage anyway.
