Chain Lightning Vs Lightning Bolt

Can someone please tell me if I ever actually need to cast lightning bolt? It seems the DPS from chain Lightning is the same and interacts the same way lightning bolt would with other talents. The cast time is also identical, plus chain Lightning looks so much better…

This is obviously on single target as the DPS is more for multi target chain lightning’s.

Lightning Bolt on single target since it does more damage and gives your more maelstrom. Chain Lightning on two or more targets.
