@Shumensko: Right, that’s what I thought, that all the essential stuff is unlocked through Renown, so that would make the entire 9/9 campaign effectively optional on alts. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
@Lycial: You mean the Bonesmith Soul Ash vendor is account wide? Cool.
Ah, good point. But still, you would eventually catch up on Renown from other game activities. So it’s not strictly speaking mandatory. But I understand what you’re saying. I’m actually doing the darn campaign it as I’m not getting much Renown from anything else, at least at 56, and I’d like to be 60 this week.
I don’t think it is. I didn’t have it yesterday on my mage alt. But that mage alt hadn’t even completed the basic covenant campaign yet. I’ll check again next time I play. The only part from the new campaign I dread is the Draka/Thrall quest where you assault The Maw. My low geared mage will struggle there.
I only have one char that has done some of the story line and all my other chars that have korthia unlocked can buy from him, might be renown locked though
You could just do two of those weekly quests that give renown and that’s it but I think to unlock them, you still have to do campaign, on mains that is. On alts, you can skip to Korthia straight away and have those weekly quests ready.
So, you can ignore campaign for renown but then process is slower.
I definitely do not understand in which way I experience literally identical quests across multiple characters so that I cannot skip campaign.
Yeah, the part with Torghast and the Maw was painfully long. I hated that week, and I’m not looking forward to doing that again.
Still, I much prefer things being “extremely convenient” rather than mandatory, so I can choose what I feel like doing instead of having the game dictating it for me. This game feels too much like a job already, IMHO, with mandatory tasks, unrewarding chores, time gates and annoying timers, so I think it’s great they didn’t make the CoD campaign strictly mandatory. A surprising step in the right direction.
