Challenge mode differences

Some differences compared to the original Mist of Pandaria that I have encountered playing monk tank in challenge modes on the beta. I am sure some are intentional but listing them here so people are aware that we seem to be getting Mythic+ style challenge modes and not the original MoP ones.

General

  • Bloodlust debuff is not removed upon death
  • Talents cannot be changed after the CM has started
  • The CM start timer is 10s instead of 5s
  • When starting a CM all players are returned to the start of the dungeon but should remain where they are
  • Guild messages upon completion of a CM talk about Mythic+
  • When attempting to learn a talent after the CM has started, it fails and the error says “Can’t do that during a Mythic Keystone”
  • Enemy movement AI is based on retail but should be more like vanilla
  • (Monk) Elusive Brew buff is removed when CM starts

Scarlet Monastery

  • The Scarlet Judicator patrol is sometimes missing within the cathedral
  • The Scarlet Zealot in the south east of the cathedral does not always cast Resurrection when approached for the first time

Scarlet Halls

  • Upon arriving at the archers around Commander Lindon with the shield the player should immediately get stunned a knocked by lightly, instead the player runs around with the shield debuff unable to use abilities for several seconds
  • Vigilant Watchmans hit by a bucket and eaten by the surrounding hounds does not increase the enemy counter

Gate of the Setting Sun

  • Krik’thik Demolishers cause an area wide 1s stun whenever a bomb appears on their weapon
  • The second wave of bombs that Saboteur Kip’Tilak throws are detonated while he is throwing them, they should land first and detonate later
  • On the left side past Saboteur Kip’Tilak there are archers standing in the air and Krik’thik Invaders falling onto the wall
  • Teleport abilities like Monk Transcendence cannot be used to get down the elevator after defeating Striker Ga’dok
  • Clicking the Flak Cannons does not kill the flying Krik’thik Bombardiers
  • The nameplates of the Krik’thik Swarmers that spawn during the fight with Commander Ri’mok are not “minion”
  • When ringing the bell, dying, running back in, completing the dungeon and resetting, players are not teleported back to the start of the dungeon

Stormstout Brewery

  • (?) (Priest) When using halo in the first room, monkeys around the first boss are being pulled

Temple of the Jade Serpent

Mogu’shan Palace

  • Ming the Cunning’s Lightning Bolts are not interruptible

Scholomance

  • Lilian Voss’s Death’s Grasp ability buffs the player with Dark Blaze that can be clicked off to avoid lying flames on the ground, it should be a debuff instead
  • Darkmaster Gandling’s abilities are not interruptible
  • Darkmaster Gandling’s Harsh Lesson can send tank/dd into the “healer room” that has no enemies to defeat and the player can therefore not escape
  • Darkmaster Gandling’s Rise ability does not summon adds

Shadopan Monastery

  • The Shado-Pan Wardens at the start can randomly evade
  • The root from the Shado-Pan Archer’s arrows are a buff but should be a debuff

Siege of Niuzao

Nice to have

  • 3min+ cooldowns are not being reset when resetting a CM but they will in WoD would be nice to have that feature already

It feels like they’re trying to bring Retail and M+ vibes into MoP Classic. But the essence of Classic has always been about the old-school experience. This just doesn’t feel right.

cms is very specific with gear and mechanics, any changes will significantly alter strategies and the difficulty. please try to get to the original as closely as possible and do not dismiss this feedback

It feels completely wrong to turn challenge modes into M+, because that’s how it feels right now.
The community that plays challenge mode and really enjoyed it wants the old system because that’s what challenge mode was all about.
CD reset, talent swap, BL debuff reset, etc.

They’re not “turning” CM into M+…this is most likely all a consequence of using the Retail client to make Classic…

So they have to “backport” CM from M+ basically. So let’s just hope they iron this all out in due time.

To be honest some changes to CM woud be good to see like :

  • disabling some items that alow to do some creazy skips , like Saurok Toy from Rares
  • fixing shadow orb glith in Shadowpan Monastery
  • giving BrM monk they damage penalty that is not applaing in CMs

Alot of that stuff wasnt “Fixed” so that people coud beat timers to get world records , but now with clear laderboard they can be Fixed

Challenge mode is the only reason I’m currently leveling up characters in Cata.

I’ll check to see if they’ve changed the other options as well, but if so… I will not continue playing mop Classic.
