currently it is on 1 minute duration, and the cooldown of 1 minute will start only when the first minute expires, or if/when the buff is broken early
how about changing it to permanent duration stealth buff? keep the cooldown from starting to tick down until the effect is broken, but increase the stealth reuse cooldown as a penalty so it cannot be used in rapid succession like the stealth relying classes can
as it is, it is not a very exciting ability, sure it will help you to escape combat or ambush an enemy here and there at the start of arena, but you donât really find yourself using it that often, and most of the time when trying to sneak somewhere, the buff just falls of early and you are caught off guard
at first when the ability was introduced in Cataclysm, you could chain stealth back to back with only one second penalty when you are visible to the enemies in between uses, because the cooldown timer started as soon as you activated stealth⌠but this didnât feel right either
allowing us to stay in stealth indefinitely would not break the game in any way, if I wanted to skip the entire dungeon, I can already do it with a combination of Camo and Feign Death, it just takes longer⌠but it would be fun to allow you to sneak around people, you know like that Predator alien, something something hunter fantasy
I think the community would go all out emo if we got a âstealthâ a la rogues.
But i understand how you are thinking, and i would love a perma cammo =)
Imo all alliance players, all classes, should have stealth in open worldâŚswitched my alt to alliance. In 3 hours i got ganked more than i have been on my main char, since BFA release (semi joke)
Itâs a difficult thing about permanent camo. I see your point about it not really making any changes to our gameplay besides us needing to make faster decisions on when to attack. But I think it makes a big difference in how many players choose Rogue over Hunter.
All classes seem to have a âunique thingâ about them, and when it comes to Rogues they have their stealth and their pure high damage DPS specs.
The Hunter is also a pure high damage DPS spec class, so if we were to also gain infinite stealth then we would completely overshine the Rogue class because of our other abilities.
Not only does Hunters have a whole other dimension to its gameplay by having pets and lots of utilities, so in the end we would become a type of âmaster classâ that EVERYONE would start rolling as.
If you are looking to roll for a new DPS class you wouldnât be able to make pros and cons list when deciding on which class to roll for and NOT choose the Hunter each time.
The Hunter would simply have too many unique abilities next to all the other classes, and cutting our stealth down to 1min w. 1min CD is a ballancing decision. In fact I feel that we should be lucky to have stealth at all.
But besides that I agree. Permanent stealth would be awesome
You would be happy to know Camo was âNerfedâ (Changed if you wana call it ) to what it is now.
Before back in the days, you could cast Camo and the cool-down would start immediately and you would be able to cast Camo again as soon as the effect ended, and repeat the process. In combat you could go Camo for about 3 seconds, but as you know thatâs not possible now.
I think the nerf was to make is so mages Invisibility and hunters Camo were treated the same i.e stealth on demand. However, Camo seems the weakest of the two abilities in its current form.
functionality changed though, you were getting true stealth only while standing still, while moving you were practically invisible to hostile NPCs only, while the enemy players didnât see a name above your head, they still saw your model outline, at first it was used more as an ability to avoid getting engaged on by ranged attacks rather than staying hidden
both the previous and current iterations have a certain functionality and use, but the ability could be so much more than it is now, without affecting game play in a negative manner or making hunters frustrating to play against
