I’m aware it was a joke. But i don’t want to get the thread locked or deleted by some moderator thinking this is political in nature.
This thread is not:
woke
political
like real life
checklist
box filling
It’s just 1 thing only, change the last boss of an expansion to be female.
This is not something that is rare, there are 4 billion+ of the female sex and there are 4 billion + of the male sex on planet Earth.
We’ve had 17 years of one of the sexes representing 4 billion+ people, let’s go for once in this universes lifetime with the other sex.
There were 10 end bosses basically… one of the next ones can be the other sex, it’s not about having a 50% representation. I’m not calling for that, that would be boring.
I’m saying to switch it up for once, tired of vanilla icecream for 17 years, can we have rocky road for once? To be refreshing for once.
Well i can see that and agree to some extent.
But if we look at overall villians and ‘‘raid’’ bosses we have quite the list of female characters.
To name a few:
Onyxia
Raszageth
Hagara in Dragon Soul
Twin Emperors in Throne of Thunder
Iron Maidens in Blackrock Foundry
I can go on in terms of raid bosses and dungeon bosses will even make the list really long.
Is it all well balanced out? certainly not, but focusing on only ‘‘end of raid bosses’’ when we see quite the amount of female characters involved in the story through expansions i would certainly not discard them.
They all play a role in the story over an expansion. Could it be more? sure, and i wouldnt mind if Dragonflight ended with a female end boss.
Given your start post is already flagged doesnt give it a good chance.
We just want something more original and better written than Sylvanas and the jailer retconning the entire warcraft 3 lore into his master plan man >< Calm down!
Nothing of the sort is happening here… Unless you bring it with you.
I am calm, but if you want more orginal villians than make a thread about that, instead this one specifically asks for more female villians and an end of expansion boss that is female.
Thats 2 different things.
I am not against the idea in any shape or form, but the excecution of said thread and way to get it done is probably wrong, given how many people flagged it (although we dont know what for)
But basically i’ve already explained that this is not a whatever end of patch boss, this is an expansion end boss. The boss that the expansion is built upon, generally (even if it’s not known from the start who the end boss is) the mastermind dictates how the expansion goes and feels, what kind of threat it is and what are the tactics used, what the end goal is, etc.
I’m interested in the puppeteer not the puppet of the expansion.
Yes expansions are also linked some of the times, the bigger mastermind is in another expansion, but the end-case now is for the current expansion biggest threat that drives it.
We’ve failed as a race if we start flagging stuff as simple as this.
This wouldn’t have gotten flagged 10 years ago…
We’re regressing it appears, or at least some of us.
I have never asked for more female villains… i specifically asked for 1 as an end boss for an expansion.
The expansion could have everything else as male, but as long as the last boss is female, that’s all i want.
Considering our only one big bad was Sylvanas and how butchered her character was…
Asking for one that isn’t as much is not such a far reach or stretch I mean come on.
And she was like the only one.
Anybody this day and age would want a properly done bad woman made villain better than Sylvanas around here. Without turning our known heroes into any new big bads.
There is no need to make this debate about this. I am telling you it never was to begin with.
I did, and i can get behind the whole idea of a female end boss or ‘‘puppeteer’’ if you like.
But i just think the way it is asked for is wrong, like i replied to Skullfox.
Given this part of your orginal post it prolly did get the flags. Because lately the whole equality thing is so important same as the whole identify as anything thing.
Once again i am not against the idea, but i think how you offered it as feedback or could have been handled differently, wrong sounds bad
Couldnt agree more, and tbh thats why i am getting sick and tired of similar threads like this. Because not everything has to be exactly how anyone views the world. a game especially like WoW which is 100% fiction and fantasy
And i am not debating that, and i do agree with your reasoning about Sylvanas. But overall the whole ‘‘equality’’ thing being used as reason for something like this isnt the right way to put it out there as feedback.
I just think it would have been way better if we would have used the Sylvanas butchered story as a good starting point of feedback instead of listing all end bosses with: a female endboss please for more equality.
This thread should be about horrible writing and not solely based on % of genders represented in the game atm (in whatever capacity)
Fair, but as much as I would love to have a strong, like-able female Villain that goes ape- in the last patch of a DLC, we all know they will probably never do that otherwise the US Twitter crowd will complain “WAAAAAAAAAAAH, BLIZZARD IS VILLAINIZING WOMEN!!!” and such…
But it all comes down to the writing of the story.
You said it yourself multiple times: the writing is too bad or they dont trust themselves to write a female strong enough to carry a whole expansion.
So it is about gender (isnt that biological sex anyway?)
If we would debate their way of writing that would be way better than saying: we need a female end boss because 17 end bosses all male and we have 50% males on earth and 50% females.
So we should represent females better as endbosses in wow to show they can be villains.
At some point i had high hopes that Sylvanas would be the final boss of Shadowlands, given how BFA ended with her and leaving / betraying the horde and than the whole Shadowlands cinematic. (Lol i forgot Teldrassil things)
But over the course of the expansion we barely saw her and had any story attached to her.
Which was a proper showcase of bad writing and having no clue how to deal with her, but they conjured up this Jailer dude which wasnt feeling so dangerous to me and even at the end Sylvanas get sent off with some job to free all souls in the Maw.
Not ‘’‘really’’ paying for anything she has done in my eyes.
Once again, this could have been handled way better story wise and yet we are ‘‘talking’’ about a female endboss and not debating bad writing.
Good writing could have made Sylvanas the end boss for Shadowlands for sure.
Nah i said that if they do not make one, then they don’t believe a female sex villain can carry an expansion(for this specific reason). Which would be sexist of them.
Like i said, i won’t make this political.
Take it from me that it’s not worth discussing and i prefer to ignore the “issue”.
Except it is not.
Bad writing can be for either sex, so it’s irrelevant in this discussion.
