I also dont think its just blizz wich cant write proper female bad guys/ important characters. It seems to be a trend among current productions where they confuse a strong female character with being extremely obnoxious and unlikable. For example like in that recent game called forspoken or whatever it was called wich people talked about alot.
Companies nowadays feel like they have to tick off some boxes for diversity sake to create a character instead of creating a compelling character with a backgrounnd
I’ve seen some reviews, didn’t like the gameplay much and the jokes didn’t hit my funny bone.
The character also felt like someones self-insert… which made the jokes a bit cringe.
Fortunately we have void and light stuff coming next, they have the opportunity to actually get creative with how the personality of the enemies are and the tactics that they use, which does not exclude having a female sex last boss!
I would love to see totally heartless and ruthless character that also happens to have bobs and she goes on full on kill annihilate raid to bring whole world down… But alas Blizzard wont ever write purely evil character just for the sake of her being evil… I miss Onyxia
Well… this is why i get my hopes up that we may get one with the Void expac coming.
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Void_lord
The void lords (sometimes capitalized as Void Lords) are monstrous entities composed of pure shadow energy who rule over the [Void], outside the borders of reality. Merciless and cruel beyond imagination, they seek only to twist reality into a realm of eternal torment, and ultimately to devour all matter and energy and the universe itself.
I like the merciless and cruel beyond imagination part a lot. xD
What kind of acts can be considered that??? If they can do that properly for a female sex end boss, it’ll be a real treat.
It’s simple, we’ve had all final bosses of an expansion(for 17 years) sharing the same sex as approximately half of the human population of Earth, the male sex.
I want a final boss to share the same sex with the other approximately half of the human population of Earth, the female sex.
Nothing political to be honest, it was mostly referred to the thought that Xal’atath might not actually be a female character but some kind of genderless/sexless entity (cause, you know, Ol’ Gods).
It is though, if you want a good villain you have to build years of stories for the player base to remember.
Jailer was a good villain? Nah.
Arthas was good? Ye.
Making a villain just because the players have to bait bad baddies is boring in a lore point of view.
I get your point, making a villain female just for the sake of it; though WoW lore at the moment needs more than just these type of superficial ideas, players and lore enjoyers need good characters and good written villains.
Ye that’s why I removed it from my OG post, was joke itself but could have been misleading. Actually, scratch that could have been looking at your reply.
Of course, pretty sure every lore enjoyer is waiting for that to happen.
So every good villain we get. Should have already lots of pre existing lore into it already? Do you realize how fast we are going to run out of Lore characters then?
Because Blizzard did already go by this for quite some time.
What would we do when Anduin. jaina. thrall. baine. etc all have been turned into new big bads for the pure sake of ‘‘We knew them and at least they had lore enough’’ to become new villains.
Its cheap… Its unoriginal. And we deserve better writing. And better villains. Than to cannibalize our known and loved heroes into making them.
Eventually if we did go by that idea… To only make villains out of lore characters already built up with lore from before in the lore… Soon enough we would of ran out of them too… And eventually Blizzard would have ended up at the same place. ‘‘Make new original characters’’ and big bads… Only we can choose that future to be with our known and loved heroes. Or without them… all spend up first.
Do you all want Jaina. Sylvanass. Thrall. Bane. ETC to end up like Garrosh did in the lore to be used up as big bads.
Just cause you deny any future possibility of any would be ‘‘good’’ Villain writing of blizzard first?
Because they will do it xD mark my words. They’d even turn Kiro of the Vulpera into a final raid boss if they had too with this recepie.
You wont even recolonize your factions in the end at this rate. If your all so against new original villains.
Heroes not always have to end as villains, villains can just be the forever baddies since the day they are introduced.
Blizzard doesn’t have to necessarily get rid of the heroes, they actually need to make a villain that remains bad for an X amount of expansion and build up a stories that doesn’t involve the ‘goodies’ to go ‘baddies’.
Nah i got that it was a joke. My reply was for anyone actually thinking that.
Exactly… they said that we’re going into another phase of wow. So they should actually build it up properly.
Since it’s basically at the start of the phase and largely unwritten, now is the time to introduce and build up new characters so they have legs to stand on in future expansions.
Either they try and succeed/fail, or we get episodic expansions… which are boring story-wise at least.
No, i’ve used mostly their biological sex(except for N’zoth, maybe Jailer - he may be an automa but i’m not convinced it was that simple as a random robot, he was definitely modeled after the male sex in physical characteristics), not how they reference themselves, why would i care to know how someone that is trying to kill me reference themselves?
For N’zoth the players and Blizzard call N’zoth a him.
You can see that in the Adventure Guide > Raids > then go to Ny’alotha and select N’zoth, look through his abilities there.
You’ll find snippets such as:
“N’zoth reaches into the minds of the players before him”
also
“In the physical realm, N’zoth defends himself”
So, yes Blizzard calls N’zoth a him.
Moving on, this is not political in nature, it’s about biological sex of the final boss of an expansion.
We’ve had male sex be the mastermind, it’s time to have a female sex final boss for an expansion in the (hopefully) near future.
Why? This is such a huge ‘‘thing’’ right now and nothing is clear and so weird that i just dont understand it.
Look up some interviews where people claim they identify as insert anything here but when the interviewer says he or she identifies as insert anything here thats not okay or it doesnt work that way.
but somehow that is all ignored. Dont get me wrong i am all for do whatever you want and how it all works. but it has to be the same for everyone.
So if i want to say i identify as something it shouldnt be questioned by anyone. but somehow that is what is happening overall.
I never said it did, and i made a joke about it.
But what i honestly dont get is why so much things in games nowadays have to be ‘‘like real life’’ or more ‘‘woke’’ or more in line with current day views and mindsets. certain games are based upon a fantasy world but now we have to act and get things of real life into it.
Games are mostly played to escape reality and you can do whatever you want because it is ‘‘a game’’ and not reality.
If i want to deal with real life things like: too few female leaders or managers, gender neutral discussions or not, i will just not login into my games and join the discussions / debates or anything about it when i feel like it.
The fact people are asking for the above for all forms of content nowadays is getting a bit tedious.
Even though i do understand the struggle for people and i am all for certain things like gender neutral choices in your race or class choices in WoW, but its getting out of hand.
Well cause for one… I don’t think Rayzen had sexual identity in mind at all. He or she simply wanted to see more Women as the main new big bad that was done right… Or did I get the OP wrong… …Again… -_-
Well, i am not against the idea, but i also made a joke since things like this are a huge point for the last years. (more female bosses / gender neutral stuff etc)
Which to some degree is fine, although given this orginal post was already flagged it tells a lot.
And many people seem to disagree or dont want more of this stuff / topics to pop up, because of the simple reasons i listed above.
Games we enjoy to escape reality have to become more ‘‘real’’ and like ‘‘real life’’ because of reasons.
