Ring enchants and Jewelcrafting-specific gems now have a profession requirement to benefit from them.
Developers’ notes:The design intent for these perks were a player power reward for having that profession, and the fact that they continued to function after unlearning that profession was a technical limitation in original Burning Crusade.
Looks like a strong change to encourage people to stick to their professions, and doesn’t allow people to stack JC gems or Enchant their rings then switch professions and retain the benefit.
I don’t particularly care, it will bother min-maxers and it might lower the value of enchanting mats as less people needto level it from zero again, but ultimately it seems like they’ve moved this in the right direction for the majority, whilst getting drums totally wrong.
This is an excellent change! It frees every min-maxer from leveling those professions for every phase bis ring or socketed armor. And it clears the conscience of every would-be min-maxer for not quiet finding the will to do so for every item. The collective sigh of relief that just sounded across the PvE focused player base can not be overemphasized.
Every time I am about to lose last shreds of hope for Classic team and Blizzard in general, they pull something like this or the seals or world buff jar off. It restores a sliver of hope and respect back for me.
Now about those drums Blizz…
1: The people who play in competitive guilds, that need to max everything to play on the same level as other guilds. These people are very happy that they dont have to do this.
2: The min maxer that play in casual guilds, that max everything so he can be top dps in his mediocre guilld. These players are not happy with this. Cause it brings his guildies on a more level playingfield, so less he can do to pretend he is the better player.
It boggles the mind that on one hand Blizzard can come up with a change as sensible as this, and then completely make a fool of themselves with the drums at the same time
You are exaggerating.
They only made that you actually have to keep the professions to keep the bonus they provide.
Just as you have to do with the BS and Engineering crafted BoPs
They really could pump up professions in retail to be more like in TBC, though
What are you on about? The good crafted gear in TBC requires you to have the profession with correct specialization active to be equipped. This change makes jc/ench work similarly to crafting professions.
