Changes to Purchasable Game Time Options for the British Pound (GBP)

I think you can only gift 60 days now, that’s the problem.

Currently, you can’t gift anything other than bnet balance if you want game time. Can no longer gift game time itself like previously. Terrible idea if it is intended.

yes sadly there is no gift option anymore for UK! for gifting game time… not even the 60 day game time as gift! goodbye to gift game time for UK!

This does not effect me in any way (even though I do reside in the UK), but I have to say this is the strangest and most stupid thing I have seen Blizzard do as of late.

Any explanation? Any at all?

It’s obvious, they dont want people gifting game time from the discount British b-net shop… 52 pounds or whatever it used to gift a sub from there is quite a bit cheaper than the €66 that most people pay.

Thats also why they haven’t touched subs, as subs cant be gifted, British players can still enjoy cheaper subscription costs while this loophole is closed. they did the same thing with CAD subs except there they instead just hiked the prices to well above what a subscription would cost if paid in most other currencies but left the somewhat cheaper subscription prices for Canadian players what they were before.

Why should someone set up a subscription if they can’t afford one or it is inconvenient or there is a risk of forgetting to cancel and have it running for months while they don’t play?

The only 30 day cards I can find are sold by sites that also sell stolen game keys. I wouldn’t recommend buying anything from them. And the cards sold in stores are 60 days.

You don’t seem to think this to be an issue, but try to spend a moment pretending that you work at an oil rig for 3 months and then have a month off before going back for another 3 months. Would you buy 60 days knowing you’ll only be able to play for 30? Would you want to subscribe when you know you’ll only play for a month? Would you think subbing and canceling is a good method of getting gametime vs simply buying that 30 days no strings attached?

So glad I’m no longer in England. but dude, come on, making them pay for 60 days?

I use gift cards for 30 days cause it helps me go outside and buy stuff.

A month of game time is healthy and gives the person a chance if they want to continue another month or not. I think you´re being unfair to the brits here.

I´m actually interested in this. can you show us what inspired blizzard to take this action?

Why do you feel the need to mock them?

Started reading this and immediately hit the WTF moment.

How is this “great entertainment value”? It limits the payment options, I haven’t used my bank account or credit card to buy game time in this game for years. I’ve been either buying game cards or using in game gold.

My issue now is that the only place I can buy game cards, only sells £15 cards. I used to buy a card or two and use it to buy one or two months at a time, now I have to buy at least two cards every time.
Just because I’m in the UK?

I used to slowly add up any excess and when I had enough, I’d buy a pet or on the rare occasion, I’d buy a mount or a legacy upgrade, get some new cosmetic goodies from days gone past.
Well, that’s done. No more balance excess. I know it doesn’t matter to Blizzard, they’re still getting the money, but it does take away more “Great entertainment value”.

I saw someone mention the B word, funny how it’s being used as a possible excuse by non Blizzard people, when other games I play with a sub and one with a f2p cash shop haven’t made any changes.

This is what bothers me. I do what you do, I buy my tokens but I live in Germany.

what we see here:

is such a mystery. are they looking at the wider audience that uses the credit card to play and only a few % of people like yourself only use the tokens? they are willing to sacrifice you for the many from what I can tell.

so many reasons I could think of why this is happening. Brexit could be the major factor. not many British players perhaps. whatever it is, they want 2 months’ worth of payment from you.

Well they aren’t getting it from me. I take long breaks and refuse to pay for more than a month at a time. It used to be via game time. This time I’ve subbed then cancelled as soon as the first month was taken. If they insist on making me pay for 60 days, I’ll go play something else. It’s not worth it for me to pay for 60 days knowing I’ll most likely be playing one month on, one month off etc.

Ikr, a month makes more sense since people have a love n hate relationship with the game. no point in having 2 months if the first month burned you out.

Dunno if its been said, tldr, but you can vpn to 30days in euros. It worked out at £12.33 for me though :frowning:

I object to this change and wish for it to be reversed. I used to pay for one month at a time because I wasn’t sure if I would be playing for long, and I have a habit of forgetting about recurring payments until it’s too late. I don’t want to have to subscribe to the game for a month and then have to immediately cancel my subscription, it’s inconvenient. Please don’t do daft stuff like this, I don’t want to hate the company any more than I should.

ok so, my shop is in pounds, but my game time appears in euros? couldnt find this 60 day game time in pounds that the thread talks about anywhere in my shop, but i can still buy 30 days if i pay in euros. Was rather annoying tho as my partner was going to gift me game time, but he couldnt use his battle.net balance because it was in pounds, and apparently you cant sent tokens or trade/post the in game money for them to sa starter account, which is all i can access without game time  blizzard really seem to be trying to make it hard to play the game…

Is this a brexit thing?

they won´t tell you either way. they just look at the info they got and be like “ah yes ^,…^ here, this little island will do”

Stop being greedy.

Give us back the 30, 90 and 180 option, 2 of my friends are already leaving WoW because they think it’s stupid and I am thinking of joining them or just not playing much anymore. No one likes this no one asked for this your just ripping off your fans to make a quick buck.

I don’t mind having to be limited to buying 2 months but what I’m NOT okay with is the fact you removed gifting options without saying a freaking word. Its how I got my friends into WoW and now I can’t even gift them game time when they’re up for playing. Good job Blizz. Good freaking job.

I think people are confused. The monthly sub is still going on, they ain’t getting rid of it. £9.99 a month will carry on, and other currencies so? It’s just a new option.
