Hello, can I change the ingame sounds?
If I make a sound myself, is there a way I can implement it in game, or is there an addon for that?
Altering game files is a bannable offence, often with a permananent ban, so please don’t be tempted, like some people have done, to inject the sound files into game files, replacing existing sounds.
You might be able to achieve what you want by creating an addon, and I do say creating, because I don’t think any exist already to do what you want. I could be wrong on that though, my knowledge of addons is limited.
There are addons that will do this job for you, although they tend to require a bit of work from you. I’ve done a quick look (very cursory) and the most recent I could find hasn’t been updated since 9.0.1. It might work - it’s called ‘Simple Sound Replacer’.
It might be worth seeing if there’s a WeakAura to do a similar job as well.
But as Trovlak says you need to be careful; altering the game files themselves can lead to a ban.
Using an addon, which will (quite intentionally) rather severely constrain what can be replaced due to the way the scripting language is limited, would indeed be the only viable option here. Any direct alteration of the existing game files would, as correctly called out by Trovlak, most likely end in a situation none wants to have.
