Channeled spells bugged visually

Howdy!

Drain life, drain soul, drain mana and mind flay all suffer from the same visual bug; the spell animation is invisible.

The spell goes off and channels but cannot be seen and the character does not do the proper casting animation either.

This happens when you chaincast any of the previously named spells in succession just as the first channel ends or has just endes (batching 10ms?).

My healing from drain life ticks as intended, damage too but among many dots ticking on a target it’s hard to tell if the spell is channeling or got resisted and therefor many casts are wasted due to thinking it’s resisted.

Fix this asap please.

As UD Spriest I can say that my mindflay works like 85% of the time.
However the rest of the time my char simply stands there, no animation, no “beam” in the air between me and the target.
The slow/dmg is still applied tho.
Blizz pls fix.

Mine’s a Gnome warlock and it’s the same regardless of race. The spells “beam” is the culprit.

It never fails after any other spellcast. It only bugs out visually if cast after …itself. 2 flays, 2 drains ; high chance of bugging out.

As a temporary solution you could just watch your cast bar. Channeled spells triggers a 1.5 second gcd afaik. That should be plenty of time to tell the difference between a resist and a successful spell.

Odd, I was playing my human Warlock in classic last night and the animation was there every time.

It could be a setting issue with spell effects.

I’ve had this bug often since day 1, it’s pretty annoying. I thought I was just being resisted at first so ended up recasting every time. I hope Blizzard plans to refund all the mana I’ve wasted due to this.

There’s no castbar during the invisible channel though. Hence why it’s easy to react to the visual and stopcast within half a second and simply cancel a fully functional channel. Wastes time and mana everytime.

Quite annoying!

My castbar is working just fine on both my warlock and priest when testing it. I’m not using the default one though.

I have never encountered such bug. Perhaps it’s because I use “nochanneling” macro.
#showtooltip
/stopmacro [channeling:SPELL_NAME]
/cast SPELL_NAME

I experience this bug a lot lately, I think it happens exclusively when I spam 2 channeled spells quickly, the second one usually is invisible.

Thats happens in retail too…
