I can’t post anything on the tww feedback forums (idk why) so I’m posting here.
The new chaos incarnate is simply bad, isn’t as strong as a capstone should be and the design is extremely boring with nothing interesting going on for it. Let’s look at the changes so far,
- Chaosbringer is removed from the tree (10% rof damage gone)
- Crashing Chaos is nerfed (35% rof damage during infernal window gone)
- Assuming Hellcaller takes Cata for big Malevolence windows, we won’t have Inferno (20% rof damage gone)
- Chaos Incarnate is nerfed (obviously depends on mastery, but for 100% mastery, 15% rof damage gone)
These might not seem high at first glance, but they are huge because these damage increases are multiplicative (and Blasphemy is also gone). Most of these changes also affect Chaos Bolt, but our single target is compensated by Overfiend, Improved Chaos Bolt, Wither, Decimation, the changes on the spec tree, and even Dimension Ripper if the proc rate is buffed.
And what do we have to make up for aoe losses? Cataclysm, Wither/Malevolence (or ruination pack), CDF and a scuffed Rift capstone? Rift capstones are at least interesting and fun to play with, but the proc rate on Dimension Ripper is nothing but awful, which consequently makes Unstable Rifts unusable. Blizzard is obviously trying to get rid of the braindead playstyle of Destruction in aoe and this is a welcomed change, but we basically don’t have any capstone that’s meaningful for aoe, at least for now. Why are they all so heavily focused on single target?
I’ll propose some possible capstones I think would be cool to have
-
Thu’raya’s Virtuosity (passive)
Rain of Fire, Channel Demonfire and Cataclysm gain maximum benefit from your Mastery: Chaotic Energies when they deal a critical strike. -
Envoy of Armageddon (passive, ppm based)
Consuming Ritual of Ruin has a chance to grant 1 application of Chaosbringer. When you gain Chaosbringer, the cooldowns of Channel Demonfire and Cataclysm are temporarily reset until you consume Chaosbringer.
Chaosbringer
Your next Channel Demonfire consumes up to 5 seconds of Immolate’s damage over time effect on your target and detonates it, instantly dealing that much damage to all enemies within 8 yards. Damage is reduced beyond 5 targets.
Your next Cataclysm is guaranteed to critically strike, and its damage is increased by your critical strike chance, but it does not inflict Immolate.
Your next Rain of Fire calls down a meteor which lands at the target location at the end of it, dealing (X% of Spell power) Chaos damage to all enemies hit. The meteor stuns all enemies in the area for 1 second when it lands.
- Incarnation of Mayhem (active, X min cooldown, costs Y soul shards)
For the next Z seconds, your single target spells also strike 5 nearby enemies for 60% of the damage dealt.
- Soulblaze (passive)
Your Burning Rush no longer damages you, but it costs X Soul Shard Fragments per second and creates a ring of fire around you while active, dealing (X% of Spell power) Fire damage to all nearby enemies every 1 second. Does not work while out of combat.
just my 2 cents, I could add like 100 spells here. some might be too op, some might be useless, but everything can be tuned. the world is blizzard’s oyster. please get rid of this worthless capstone
