Character and guild concepts you'd want to see!

It’s that time again, folks. The old threads have sunk into mt. Doom so let’s get another one going.

'tis my duty to go first:

A Nightborne “safari” group of the idle rich and upper class twits who want to travel the world, seeing what they’ve been missing. They’d go from town to town with hired native guides, bothering the local savages with offensive questions and complaining about the filthy accomodations. As a group, they’d be an all star cast of things like the big game hunter with a head too big for his hat, the acerbic aunt who’s never without her “half full” glass of arcwine, the dynastic princess who’s never seen without perfect hair and a manasaber cloak no matter the climate etc etc etc.

This works equally well as an individual character, though the poor thing would probably be strangled immediately.

Wanna start seeing people rise up against Sylvanas…

No, too early for that.

Besides, this concept has began to get really repetitive ever since Teldrassil. Personally I want to see more Bilgewater goblins.

A chaste male only order of templars or monks of the Light.

Never too early to realize she’s a monster.

To be fair, some of my hordies are OK with serving the monster if it means lasting peace. Don’t do early access darkspear rebellion mk2, please.

I keep mentioning it, but I want an order of Gilneans adhering to the Old Ways. I’ve compiled so many snippets of lore to make it work despite itself and hopefully the new worgen models will inspire people. Some heterodoxy is expected but that’s fun.

I mean, at least don’t blindly support her, if your character’s one of those who will turn against her, perhaps it’s a good idea not to agree with her and attack people who call her out on her actions in the city.

I like a sort of monastic angle. That’s another thing; a monk guild. Like medieval european monks, spending their days doing pious things like translation and cheese. Like civilian guilds, it’d be tricky to maintain interest, though. I’m sure it has appeal with so many people enjoying the disciplined life of military guilds.

It could be draenei, even. A community of anchorites seeking refuge from the worldly matters now that the Demons are defeated.

For the longest time I wanted to join a penal military unit. Full of prisoners who have made some terrible choices in life but are willing to try and redeem themselves via military service if possible.

No such guild existed, so I made my own! If you have a concept that you are passionate about, dont be afraid to take a chance and act on it.

A peasant guild to act as rivals to the peons.

Culture-based guild, something that promotes peaceful activities of a particular race. I.e. offering services of hosting a funeral, a wedding, random party for a particular in-game holiday, cause some stuff is different for various races.

Cant seem to find Kul Tiran rp guild military wise, ik some might wait for the race to come out but i feel its important to get a foothold, can always change race if needed. Why am starting work on my own Kul Tiran military rp guild. Boras is lovely city and wish more would use it.

A group of highly amusing, poorly equipped police that patrol Stormwind and get into all sorts of zany situations.

They’d watch the city of Stormwind.

One probably exists honestly, though in WoW it makes little sense, but a medic that doesn’t use magic or the Light/loa/hocus pocus turn on her head chanting at the moon/all of the above. Failing that a medical guild, could be neutral and heals both sides - red cross esque.

An IC Brawler’s Guild that goes from town to town, organizing fights between their famed fighters and fights that will require a (maybe planted ooc) volunteer from the audience to challenge one of the Guild’s fighters.

And yeah, whatever the RP equilevant would be of Nacho Libre(IRL Fray Tormenta). A priest who’s a cagefighter when he’s not around and directs all his income to his church.

Edit: added the movie’s inspiration: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fray_Tormenta

What about a group of baddies? Maybe a warlock cult trying to revive the legion or just some joint effort between various evil characters who want to take advantage of the faction war and cause more mischief for personal gain? Would be great to coordinate that with regular “good” alliance guilds so both groups have tangible enemies for events and stuff.

Of course, this also implies the bad guys are gracious losers in the end and don’t mind getting their world domination plans foiled more often than they succeed, but I think it would make for fun events nonetheless if rped properly. I expect most people will disagree with the viability of something like this, but I think it could be interesting.

Reminding me of an old idea of a band of brigands and outlaws, more or less inept but reveling in the freedom and camaraderie. Antagonistic to local guard and military but not enough of a problem to warrant crackdown, it’d be to move from place to place robbing and grifting.

Some dark and groovy warlock-cult stuff would be sick. Like you “wake up” one day and suddenly the society got this string of tension attached to it with whispers of bad stuff happening in the darkest corners of the lands.

A casino, or something to that effect. I thought about doing it myself on team blue, found a decent place that would generate good traffic. But relaying card games and roulettes in-game is a bit tricky where anyone can lie about their RNG /roll. It’d be a very niché thing, if it ever came to be.

Doesn’t that have problems with the TOS? Gambling being banned and all that. I mean it’s just RP but GMs can be overly triggerhappy sometimes.

It would be purely IC currencies, no gold or real money transferring. If I had caught wind of people doing it, they’d be reported and banned from the casino. I’unno, it just seems like an idea to have fun and spice up the cities a bit outside of the “Halt, villaina!” guardsman yelling of the GUNSHOT BS. If alcahol and subtle pornography (al a Goblin pin-up calendars from WoD) are allowed, why couldn’t a gamblers ring or casino?
