I have some issue with my Characters. I’ve been playing this game since ages, and I took a break for 1 year, now that I want to come back to try the new expansion I’ve noticed that my characters have different names (with letters and numbers at the end of it). If I subscribe again, I will have their normal names back??
Sounds like your characters were marked for a name change. I don’t know what happened and why but you better open a ticket about it.

I believe that is a sign of a forced name change, which is something they will only be able to address via a ticket.

Yes it is indeed.
Etn, are you sure it is only a year that your characters have been inactive? I only ask as that would not normally meet the requirements of a forced name change unless the name you were using on those characters broke the character naming policy (which could also be the issue here).
You should try the appeal a name change option I think.

Should be 1 year. What does that mean? I won’t be able to have my character names back? I moved to Australia a while back and had to create another account synchronized with this one in EU. I used those characters names since Burning Crusade expansion…
It’s one of two things, you name broken the rules or you have been away for two full expansions and someone took your name.

As long as they were in line with the naming policy you can of course try to grab them again, but there is really no need to make a ticket since support wouldn’t be able to grant you unavailable names in any case.
