Totally unreleated to all the rants and important themes being mentioned.
Should I name my dwarf:
He already has a surname (the elected ingame name), so this is purely for RP reasons.
Had a massive list and its come down to these two, and I cant decide.

I like Morgrim more. You should maybe make a poll and post it in the thread!

What’s the surname? So we can see how it fits together with your first name options
I’m vibing with Thrundvarr, I’ve gotta say, it sounds very powerful: Thrundvarr Brinebeard. It can also be shortened to Thrun during conversation, so it skips the risk of being too long.

I think Thrundvarr is the better option too.

I am definitely on team Thrundvarr here. And it has the added bonus of not being confused with another Morgrim who I am certain you would meet sooner or later if you kept going with dwarf rp.
But that would have the comedic potential of you both going “Aye?” when someone says your name.
And before someone comes riding in here and saying it is okay to have the same name as another. I know. I am just saying what I am saying since I got a common name irl and it can get tiresome at times to be hearing your name mentioned when it isn’t you.

To be honest, although it may be cool looking, but I am siding Morgrim team! Thrundvarr is far more difficult to read and pronounce. Most of the players will be reading like Thrun…Thrund…Thrundvrr…oh screw it. Morgrim is easier to read and is more memorizible. It would be much easier to recall the name in the dialogues etc.
Morgrim Brinebeard

I didn’t know there is one! If that’s the case… yeah, I am switching to team Thrundvarr unless being confused for the other one is something the OP would find entertaining.

The chance of meeting another Morgrim is the same as meeting another Thrundvar.
Besides there is nothing wrong to meet a person with the same name as you, as in real life.
Morgrim is pretty rare name, it is not like Muradin or Falstad. The concept of naming your character as popular warcraft heroes is not welcomed for understandable reasons.
In the end, character personality is what really matters. I am new to RP, but the first thing I noticed that there are easy to comprehend names and there are those difficult to read names that nobody reads. Especially when you try to recall the person in dialogue.
For example, easy to remember dwarven names: Rangan, Ukur, Korrun, Seldar, Urmand, Agrur, Selin, Remul, Ignith, Gardorm etc.
And hard to read names like: Dryrrygdeth, Khirdirkund, Tahrnuidrind, Hjadumdond, Mirhagdurn etc.
I think everyone can agree that there is big difference between being original with your name, and thinking you are being original picking the name for everyone to have a hard time reading it.

Thrundvarr really isn’t that complicated though.

Firstly
Why Thrundvarr and not Thrundvar?
Secondly, I agree, Thrundvar is also a great name. But for me personally, Morgrim is way better.

Face the hammer of Thrundvarr Brinebeard sounds cooler than face the hammer of Morgrim Brinebeard

When I read the chat I will read it like “Face the hammer of Thrvdrr (ah, no matter) Brinebeard.”
Maybe it is just for me.

People don’t pay that much attention to that endless walls of text they are ought to read while rping. That’s why most likely Morgrim is to be remembered better than Thrundvar.
