Yeah, this isnât Heroes of the Storm. It doesnât fit WoW at all. Whatâs wrong with the current character selection screen? Itâs nice and simple.
It is indeed nice and simple - until you get more than like 5 characters on your realm. Then you need to scroll, and it becomes impractical and tedious.
The posted mockup is a great idea, although it have rooms for improvement for perhaps adding character name, make the icons more square and remove empty slots, it have a potential to maintain a nice and clean look.

I have 30 on one realm and 20 on another. It would be nice to be able to see more without scrolling.

Im having a hard time prioritizing my alts, yes i have like 50 and i dont need to, but leveling fun!

In Tera we get 8 characters per page and they are all animated and walking toward you. You can change the order of each character on each page. You then simply click the tab to see your next bunch of characters. They change the backdrop environment at times. It is very easy to negotiate. I love the way they walk toward you. Very easy to click the characters as you can click the actual character or the character from a list.
Looks kinda like HotS. I wouldnt mind.
However i would prefer if we could see all our characters sitting around lets say a campfire talking with one another and you could just click on either themselves or the selection at the right and then the selected one stands up reading his weapons. Active Hunter/Lock pets could run around in the background playing with one another.
Or make it look like diablo character selection screen. You see all of your characters at a camp and you just click on the one you want to enter on. When you want to create a character, go inside a caravan and you choose there your race&customizations.

if i dont count my deleted chars aka 1 zandalari ret pala and my vulpera and maghar arms wars i had to delete my lvl 50 draenei dk i played since wod to bfa and one of my ex mains
i grinded stuff on including lady of war title because the selection one is too large if you have 10+ characters on one server
current one i have are 17 for dragonmaw eu
even though id like to level my ww monk and spriest in SL thats whats stopping me
the current selection screen

Hey all, Thanks for the feedback.
- The goal isnât to vote on the design I showed above.
- The goal is to be able to see more toons (if possible - all) without scrolling.
That image was just one way this could be achieved. Take is as concept 1.
I took some time and used my terrible skills to illustrate Concept 2. One of the people above talked about it and I figured I'll do a simple illustration of that idea too.

The way we solve the issue for everyone is by adding the option to toggle between different layouts.
- Solve the scrolling issue
- Implement a few new designs
- Add the option toggle between them
- Keep the current style as an option
Benefits:
- By Adding Layout & the option to toggle between them - the feature becomes future proof. You can always add more in the future. Maybe with new expansions come new designs. Classic style always remains an available option too.
- There are NO negatives. Even those who want to keep the current style will be able to.
