So this is a new advanced kind of stuck that I haven’t seen anyone else be in before.
I made my character, then logged off as I had forgotten to send the new alt something from one of my characters, unaware that this could get my character stuck.
When I log back onto my alt on the boat to Exile’s Reach I disconnect whenever I do anything that involves moving my character.
I found a tread that recommended the “Character unstuck” - But instead of sending me to outside Orgrimmar (As they said it would in the thread) it sent me to the island of Exile’s Reach. But I never did the quests ON the boat so I can’t begin questing to progress my way off the island and the quest logg clearly expects me to start / do quests which is on the ship; which I can’t back onto.
The character in question has mail sent too them from 2 separate characters so not only is deleting said character not an option for 30 days because they have unopened mail, but I can’t even do the “Get back unopened mail I have sent” because it has a 15 day cool-down on your account. (Before anyone asks, I sent Bags + Gold from one character and Enchanted Heirlooms from another)
So does anyone have a clever way to solve this pickle? At least I am not stuck on the ship as most tend to be but now I am truly stranded on the island as without the quests; I can’t make my way off it.
Sounds like a ticket to me. At least to retrieve your mailed possessions and then proceed to delete the bugged character. It is intriguing how broken Exile’s Reach can truly be.
I honestly do not even understand where to “correctly submit” a ticket. In-game; any and all of the options I could click on at the support section either lead me to a “Try this auto solution button” or “Yeah sure you can submit a ticket” ← But a friend of mine told me he submitted a ticket on the “Deleted character” section (As he found no way to click his way to submit a ticket to the issue he had, same as me) and when he got a reply some days later he was just told “Wrong section, submit on the right place” and the ticket was shut down.
The support section here on the web-page is also no better and just lead me to the same options as the in-game panel so I ended up finding a link online that I used which I believe now has made me submit just a “general support” ticket that has the Bnet icon instead of the WoW icon.
I usually find something semi suitable via the gameplay issues that let me open a ticket. Yes a lot of it automated, but I have never gotten my ticket closed without the GM helping me first ~
Yeah there appears to be something in the system now that detects keywords in what you type in the ticket which then prevents you from actually making a ticket because it forces you back to the auto services option. That would be ok if the auto services were reliable and always worked and could solve all problems but they don’t and can’t.
Only way to get past that it seems is to open a ticket under a close category and hope you get a reply.
As I mentioned in my post: I have sent the alt mail from two separate characters. And once you recover mail you can’t do so again on your account until 15 days have passed.
I know its of no use for you right now, and no help for you with your current situation.
However, for future reference, Exiles Reach should be avoided at all costs, because its been known to be bugged for several expansions now, and Blizzard do not appear to be in any great hurry to fix it.
It wasn’t even too bad until relatively recently, because you used to be actually able to contact a GM. These days, its near impossible to contact a GM, to resolve the issues.
I’d say avoid sending mail to characters there before you actually complete the zone. There are no mailboxes there anyway, and you can’t use toys even if you have a mailbox one. Sure sometimes there is annoying event mail that will render your character undeletable for a time but usually it’s enough to guarantee you can delete the character to prevent getting stuck waiting for a GM.
Good news! While most of my friends told me to expect several days of waiting time to get help with this after submitting a ticket - Blizzard has already gotten back to me and simply placed the first quest from the island itself into my quest log so that I could begin making my way off Exile’s Reach! Shout-out to Game Master Dwynmathy for helping me out!
That’s great, glad you got it resolved! It’s nice when you get a GM who actually reads your ticket and is willing to help resolve your issue - sadly a rare occurance these days.
