Greetings,
I was hoping that with the pre-patch there would be a chance we’d see the PCT cooldown reset in order to give people a chance to reunite with friends for launch, however, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Personally I’m in a situation where back in early-mid March before BETA was even announced for this game and the only thing we had to go by was “launching LATER this year” I purchased a character transfer. Now I have to wait until a couple weeks into launch for my transfer to be off CD.
It’s funny because it would be in Blizzard’s best interests for people to move away from big realms such as Gehennas, especially for launch.
I guess I’m just curious if anyone else is in a similar situation to me and whether Blizzard plans to do anything here or if I just kinda have to deal with it. Seems a bit harsh IMO that you could’ve transferred well before a release date and before beta was announced yet apparently that wasn’t enough time for the CD to finish.

I support resetting the CD. I transferred my horde warrior in early april and my friends have decided to gather on a smaller realm for TBC. I would never have imagined that we would get such short notice for TBC, if I knew, I would never have transferred it in the first place.
I also remember the cooldowns were reset at or shortly after the TBC launch back in the day.

@Clarity: I am not able to 100% confirm this, sorry, but I believe that unlike PCTs, FCMs out of overcrowded realms are NOT restricted by transfer cooldowns.
I’m in the same situation I moved my character in early March being Gehennas it’s going to be mayhem at launch and now all of my friends that quit classic for different reasons are coming back for BC but they are on my original server and I wont be able to move til June 9th so basically the entire hype at the start and leveling together wont happen unless they lift the transfer restrictions and I’ll probably be stuck in 10+ hour ques so I hope and wish blizzard hear us out let us transfer to our friends or even just leave huge pop servers for the launch!

Same boat here, would love a response from Blizz on this
Amen brother! Got home from work wanna play some pre patch sitting in a 4k+ que to Gehennas so already mayhem please blizzard notice us! This is just how bad the que times are right now for some one working getting home and want to do some pre patch pvp and leveling this is stupid remove the cooldown or open up free transfers that characters already on a cooldown can use @blizzard! ibb .co/cc4SwRY how it looks like for me coming home imagine the actual release!
Never thought I would make a post on blizz forums and see my paladin portrait again (the feels)
But I truly hope they would reset the Character Realm Transfer cooldown. I mean its a launch of a “new” expansion, I for one did not expect TBC to come out so soon, and my CD is gonna reset a few weeks into the launch… + I met some people on endless that are really good arena partners but 6 of those people are from 6 different realms… It would be really cool if we could all just transfer to one specific realm before the dark portal opens, and if I’m not mistaken, they did reset the CD back in the day with or right before the launch of TBC.
Blizzard, if you ever read this, please consider it. It will make quite a few people happy by giving them the ability to transfer into a new realm before the dark portal opens. And lets be honest, with the dwindling subscriber numbers, that would be a nice money boost.

Thank the heavens this thread is not dead! I’m as stated before also stuck on a server away from all my returning friends, my transfer is available June 9th so basically gonna miss the launch hype and the idea of dungeon leveling along with my friends but such a letdown when the prepatch, launch was announced so late I transfered early March thinking TBC was not gonna release pre summer at least and didn’t know all my friends were coming back to the game either. Don’t kill the hype over such a simple thing I beg you blizzard I understand why there’s a cooldown on the service but given the late announcement of both the prepatch and the actual launch itself lift the cooldowns let people move to the servers they want prior to the launch!
Would be real nice with a response at least. Would suck to miss out due to the short time between announcement and release (A very unlikely release date imo.).
I transferred a toon before anything on TBC Classic was announced. Still on Cooldown for another month. Waited 2 days for a ticket reply and got one when I added onto it. I was told that:
90days was something that they cannot change or remove from your account as it is a decision made by the development team.
Gonna miss out on leveling my toon with old Guildies who I thought were not going to bother playing anymore. Im not happy but I get where they are coming from. Gonna miss out on alot of fun with old friends. Leveling on my own or with randoms isnt the same.
Sucks that we can’t even get some kind of response to know that we’ve at least been acknowledged. I feel like there’s quite a few people out there in the same position as us and it sucks hard.
We shouldn’t be punished for server transferring well before a release date for TBC was given. It’s very disappointing that I can’t transfer and queue BG’s with my friends right now in pre-patch I’m just stuck here solo queuing.
Edit: another thing worth mentioning is that in Feb 2008 which was still TBC the transfer cd was reduced to 30 days: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Character_Transfer

In the same boat as the rest. Blizzard needs to atleast reply or something acknowledging this… This will make or break alot of people’s TBC experience due to poorly managed realm transfer services.
The first leak about Beta and release was back in December 2020 by a former Nostalrius Dev…
Sorry that I didn’t hear about a leak posted by one person with no definitive source? Jesus what kind of logic are you trying to use here lmao

The one that it was posted on several gaming sites and that you are out of luck in that regard
Again - I didn’t hear about it, and it wasn’t from any official Blizzard source. Even if I did know about said leak, I wouldn’t be making decisions based around it. I’ll always wait until I hear it from the horses mouth.
If anything it’s quite the opposite, many people within the community have been talking about how rushed TBC feels, especially given we’re only getting a 2 week pre-patch.
Less than a month heads up for a release date is bad imo. Blizzard typically used to give people at least 2-3 months.

Blizzard’s track record with official expansion release date announcements have been 2-4 months before the actual launch. Now for the TBC Classic official release announcement it was less than 1 month before launch.

That is true for new expansions, personally for me it’s only logical that this is not the case with something that is not new but rehashed
So I guess we can forget about transfer CD resets. TBC launches in less than 48h, so if Blizz would have intended to do something about it, they would have done it by now.
Yeah… pretty disappointing that we couldn’t at least get some kinda response out of this.
We can inhale some copium and pray that maybe when TBC goes live they’ll reset it then OR if you’re on a higher pop server then maybe they’ll do some free transfers (which I believe are on a seperate cooldown to the paid service).
