hello, as the title says any idea if the option to transfer characters from pve to pvp servers will be available at any point until late tbc/wotlk release? i have many 60+ chars on a pve server horde side and seriously the server is really dead. ive come to the point to consider leveling the exact same classes to different server but the idea is really not appealing.
Letâs hope they make it possible to transfer soon-ish. There is no âprestiegeâ in leveling on a PvE server contra a PvP one. Especially with the level 58 boost, and leveling in general was never prestiege. (Which used to be their argument). Just let people transfer so they can play with friends or get off dead realms.
Why not just open up free transfer TO and FROM all servers and let people decide where they want to play?
fun fact. i transfered my lvl 60 rogue during vanilla classic from a pvp to a pve server coz of friends. now i cant return back lol
Iâm in a very similar situation as well.
I actually leveled to 70 on a PvP realm and then transferred to a PvE realm to play with friends and my old classic guild.
Unfortunately my friends here quit and the guild disbanded, and right now all of my beloved characters which Iâve had since the very first weeks of classic are now stuck.
At the time of the transfer I had no idea that this sort of a restriction was in place.
I already gave up and leveled a character on Firemaw to play with another group of friends.
Right now Iâm playing on both servers and every day Iâm waiting for news on the removal of these outdated restrictions.
As a player who actively plays on both types of servers I have to say that the differences are minimal, even when leveling in outside world.
The only glaring difference is the complete absence of a healthy arena scene on PvE servers, which is a dealbreaker for me.
To any Blizzard devs who might read this.
Please let me play with my friends with the characters Iâve built and progressed over 2 years.
The least you could do is to write an official answer stating if you are going to do this in late Sunwell or Wrath prepatch as was the case in original TBC.
Atleast with this information I know that Iâll have to leave the rest of my characters behind and level new ones so that I can finally enjoy the rest of TBC.
Because everyone would end up on the same 2-3 servers, which is why we ended up in this situation to begin with. The issue is that player numbers have been dropping since TBC launched and the remaining players flock to the same servers so they can at least play.
Blizzard profits millions from this so a long-term free pass to server transfer to balance realms wonât happen.
Wouldnât this be good? seen from your point of view? I donât understand why this is an argument against free transfer everywhere
ANd if transfer was given free, I would transfer some of mine back to the RP server from where they came.
But of course Blizz wants us all stacked on Pyrewood and 2 PvP servers.
Itâs not as much what Blizzard wants as it is a result of player priorities. 1st prio is having enough people to play with. 2nd is being a dominant faction (but with other faction present) so they can bully (wpvp) but not get bullied back. But the other faction wants the same. Yes there are a few wpvp lovers who donât mind being the underdog, but vast majority of players want to be safe.
The only logical end result of these two priorities are 2 massive monofaction servers. In fact, I am amazed at a fact Firemaw even exists. US has no such server (except arguably Grobbulus RP-PvP).
Oh I think so that they can close down the other servers. People always said that they did not make more (enough) in the beginning (Thus scaring off a bunch of PvE players) because running a server costs money. When all PvE players eventuyually have used the free transfer to Pyrewood they are going to close the other ones.
I do not know anyting about PvP except for âKeep me outâ
It wouldnât be good because those 2-3 servers will buckle under new content releases and create massive queues. A healthy server population isnât 30000+ just as much as it isnât 1500.
If you look at the PVE servers right now a few of them have been the most stable and healthy of all servers, if lacking on horde side a little. Why? Probably because there isnât an option to transfer off to a mega server, as a result servers like Mirage Raceway are much closer in terms of player stability to old original TBC realms.
WOTLK is super casual friendly and will be more popular than TBC, when that launches itâs going to be a mess if every player decides the only option is to play on Firemaw or Gehennas, while the other servers rot. WOTLK does bring PVE to PVP transfers too, so could even kill off some PVE realms with it.

And I like this to be honest I just want everybody to be happy ⊠free transfer, but with caps on pop and faction pop per realm? Would this solve the problem, do you think?
guys, i am not asking either for free transfers or to migrate to the biggest pvp server. just a server where i can find pugs and groups and where i can find pvp partners. a server where leveling a new char is not 99% solo farm.
I would also like to emphasize this that most of us are not looking for free transfers or server merges.
I would be completely happy to pay for the service for each of my characters as I just want to be able to play with my friends with the characters Iâve put considerable time and effort into.
