Character Transfer Restrictions

Hello!

I’ve searched all over the internet without finding a proper answer for this question. So I hope I’ll be able to find some answers here, as the current restrictions put on the game, has put me in a position where I am unable to play any of my characters.

Since the news of that there will be no faction change coming with the WotLK Classic. I’ve been forced to abandon the characters I’ve spent the past years building up. That has everything collected from both WoW Classic and Classic TBC, such as Naxxramas gear, unobtainable titles, reputations and mounts, thousands of gold, professions and recipes and so on… As me and all my friends have decided to play Alliance in WotLK, for the nostalgia. Most of u was hoping for the option to faction change.

With that option gone, we we’re also discussing leveling up from scratch, together, through the new LFD system that also is a part of our nostalgia from Wrath, and that kept us interested in playing and gearing multiple speccs and classes.
But neather this feature will we see coming on the Classic servers.

So, with our Main characters with all our progress through 2 “expansions” left with no reason to progress on, and all of us left completely unmotivated to level from scratch again, without LFD, as we have leveled multiple characters to both 60 and 70 on both sides of the faction. We can only come up with one solution left, before we give completely up on the dissapointment this WotLK announcement/release has been.

To start preparing our abandoned level 60 Alliance characters and migrate them off our dead server. But no. We can’t even do that… Since we still have these old outdated restrictions on Character Transfer, which were removed in WotLK retail.
Since our Alliance characters, that was abandoned early during WoW Classic (level 60), were on a PvE server (reasons being dispell and troll meta + queues during WoW Classic, forced us to roll on a PvE server for a while), which is completely dead now. There’s no reason to even play these characters. Unless I can get the answer I am looking for.

What I am wondering is; Will Blizzard open for PvE to PvP server transfers coming WotLK?

Thanks in advance,
Concerned veteran gamer

Playing on a PvE Server, very beta male behaviour.

My suggestion is to wait a month. Seeing how indecisive you are and have been historically, soon the pendulum will swing back to Horde ^^

You know nothing of me historically. But, as already stated in the main post; I’ve mained the same character throughtout WoW Classic and Classic TBC. Same warlock, same priest and same warrior from Molten Core to Sunwell Plateau. These are the character I want to progress, but are denied to do so, due to no faction change coming…
Please read the entire post…

No.

Could you please provide reliable information supporting this, other than just typing “No.”?

Can you prove that they have said it will happen?

I remember them saying somewhere that they won’t let people go from PvE to PvP as PvP is supposed to be more difficult to level on. I’m sure you didn’t search before posting your verbose thread or you would have found it.

You are asking a question you can google, to a group that know no more than you. Im probably giving you the best advise you will get.

Didnt have to write a sad letter to Santa about how bad you feel, and how sad it is, that your hopes, dreams and times are shattered. Oh the horror, the useless reputations, the gear that you will replace and the pyjamas partys you had talking about leveling in LFD - all gone to waste!

Bite the bullet and invest the time if you think its worth it, or dont if you dont. You can hit 70 and get all the gear and reputations you ever dreamed about in the 3-4 months minimum before WOTLK is released. Or you can write letters to Santa …

No I don’t, hence why I opened this topic. So people can provide reliable information, if any. As it’s very hard to come by these days. Most websites and forums are just full of speculations or personal attacks based on personal preferences., which I don’t want this discussion to turn in to either… Hence why I am asking you to please provide information related to your answer… If you can’t, then its just purely speculation on your side.

And by them saying that “that they won’t let people go from PvE to PvP as PvP is supposed to be more difficult to level on” is something they said over 10 years ago, and is proven to be wrong in current days. Especially with the added service to buy boost.
The restrictions were also removed in retail WotLK, so it wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary if they decided to add it for Classic as well.
I just can’t find any information supporting one or the other.

How about new acounts and boosts to 70 (or 58 if you want to prepare) then? Lets you skip the leveling, but unfortunatly gives Blizzard precisely what they want. Still could be a option if you already were prepared to start from 0.

Look what I found after a very quick google search, imagine if you had done one before posting?

Thanks for reluctantly and judgmentally trying to help.
This article however states the following;
“On the subject of restricting transfers between PvE and PvP servers and limiting PvP servers to a single faction per account, we’re still talking about it, and will likely have more to say soon.”

I don’t want to be rude or anything, but they said exactly the same about server population…“we are still thinking of solutions”; “we are discussing possible solution”; “don’t worry, you’ll hear on that from us soon”. It’s been more than half a year since they said first time that they are discussing soltuions. If I were you, I’d rather not get my hopes too high over such statements.

I agree, and trust me, no hopes here. Just frustration, a lot of frustration. If we only could have some proper answers, no matter the answer, so that we could prepare for WotLK with certainty

You’re welcome (I know you are being Passive/aggressive) but what you actually should actually see is that NO ONE KNOWS, and a simple search would have told you this.

Soon™, is Blizzard saying we will get round to making a decision eventually. In other words, they haven’t decided yet so there is no “proper” answer. Anything anyone says is a guess.

I have just one question. You say

I don’t know of any PvE servers rthat have died. Which one did you roll on - and why not stay on PvE server for Wrath?

To me it sounds like you painted yourself up in a corner by wanting what you want and nothing else.

You forgot to add “for role-playing reasons”

Don’t worry, Blizzard will have fresh lvl 68 boost for you and your friends, then after a while (once boosts would be sold to as msny as they could) an announcement will be made about changing of the mind and Faction change and PvE>PvP transfers being made available. Because otherwise new boosts won’t sell as good.
