I wanted to join a guild on Frostmane, my only character in Retail on that server, and the player asked me to make a character first in Sylvanas, which I don’t want to do as my character I’ve progressed in is in Frostmane. I’ve also noticed many players with “Syl” next to their name. Have I picked the wrong server to play on or what? I just want a normal server where people stick to it lol.
For guilds, player pool etc you want a reasonably sized realm which favours your faction.
Judging by wowprogress and wow realm population, the bigger server would be Sylvanas. Sylvanas has a bigger population and better raiding results (more guilds have cleared more content).
You can also raid cross realm with any guild up to and including heroic. Mythic initially requires you to be on the same realm until the Hall of Fame is filled by both the Horde and the Alliance (100 for each faction). These sites can only serve as a rough guideline as we have no official statistics provided by Blizzard.
When we are out in the world, more so in war mode but also in war mode off, you will see people from all sorts of realms because we are put into shards.
Wouldn’t it have made more sense if Blizzard asked me to join Sylvanas first as it’s the “source” server? The player said he can’t invite me to the guild as he/she is on Sylvanas, ON FROSTMANE?, which makes no sense to me. What do I do? Did people who make an account on Sylvanas get the privilege to then join Frostmane for free? Why not just stay on Sylvanas?
Sorry for so many questions, it just doesn’t make any sense to me.
Blizzard has no idea where you are looking at guild recruitment. I’m not sure I understand your point.
Were you in a capital and saw a guild advertisement in trade/general chat? Cities are not home to just one realm’s population. If they aren’t busy enough to populate a shard you are mixed with other realms.
Ah I see I didn’t know that. That’s why I saw many players from Sylvanas. Which can be annoying as I just want to focus on Frostmane so I can just join a Frostmane Guild.
I don’t know what type of guild you are looking for but you can look at guild recruitment on
And the in game guild finder tool
Press J to access and click on the Guild finder Tab
Use the drop down menus at the top to select what you are looking for and the size of guild you are after, choose your role and hit search. This will only give search results for your realm
While I agree that Sylvanas is probably the bigger realm, those realm links are missleading as it doesnt consider the servers linked to them, both Frostmane and Sylvanas were copied over to other servers recently.
if you see alot of people from Sylvanas in trade its probably because you are on that server or on another server in the Aucindoun cluster.
If you want to join a Guild on Frostmane you need to create your character on either Frostmane, Grim Batol or Aggra… the actual server is hosted on grim batol but they all link to the same and if you want a specific name you can also play around and see if its availible on any of the above mentioned servers.
i joined outland because at the time it had the best alliance/horde ratio of all eu servers, favoring alliance. (i chose alliance)
if transfer, in my opinion, its better to go to the one with the a 1:1 ratio, favoring your faction. with LARGE player pool.
I don’t think that’s the case - I’ve used the guild finder to apply to my guild on my alts and then relogged and accepted the application. If you aren’t online when it’s accepted, you get an invitation to join in the guild and communities panel when you press J.
This! If u get accepted you get the invite next time you log in when you open J.
You probably see people from sylvanas due to cross realm sharding. You are not on the same server or connected servers, but you can still be sharded together out in the world.
