There was a bug on retail when right clicking or auto attacking an enemy your character didnt turn as fast as the camera did and there was always a delay until you detarget again. Here are some videos about it :
This bug got fixed on retail apparently with patch 9.1.5.
This bug still exists on wow classic and its really really annoying.
Do you have any information about it?
Yes it is the most annoying thing ever. i think it got added with shadowlands prepatch maybe even earlier and it existed on classic since the beginning. I would like to contact the developers via email or something but it seems like the only way is the ingame bug reporting tool or tweet @WarcraftDevs. The weirdest thing is that some people have this and others just dont. I tested on many different pcs/keyboards and mice and its still there so i think it has nothing to do with the hardware. Its been over 2 years and i cant play any melee characters anymore because of it.
Thing with this bug is that its subtle, yet so annoying. It literally is artificially implemented input lag. As you pointed out this is fixed on retail. I assume this happened because of how Blizzard uses Shadowlands client for Classic, and that client has this bug in itself. It is easy fix as long as developers notice this post or bug report.
Are you sure everyone has this? Hard to imagine that not even pro players or streamers notice this. Gameplay feels non responsive, weird and delayed (atleast for melee classes). But maybe you are right because i tested it on so many different pcs and still got it.
Yes, this affects everyone. This is not based on class/race or whatever else you could think of. It’s simply way animation works. Auto attack on any target is what triggers it. For example, as a caster if you are not auto attacking animation is responsive, but as soon as you have auto attack active you can see the delay. It’s really subtle thing, it also can get annoying more or less depending on sensitivity you run, thats why some people don’t even notice it. I can assure you I’ve tested this on Classic and on Retail. Retail animations are fixed.
Just to compare, even though player models are different on Retail and Classic, this animation issue was present on Retail for a while too. It was fixed sometime during Shadowlands as far as I know.
I would like to ask anyone from Blizzard who is in charge for this, to give a response to this. Also I’m open for any questions or further explanation on this. Character animation is fundamental part of game. Thanks in advance!
