Just logged back on to classic era as I had the urge to play it again, when I loaded up it showed the number of characters on each server, but when I clicked that server it was empty.
I’ve seen some posts about this being for people who did not clone characters etc.
I paid to clone a character who is also not there!
Any ideas what is going on?
Did you pick the correct server? (i.e. Warcraft Classic, not Warcraft WotLK Classic) ?
No Era servers was deleted, so if you did indeed clone character(s), they should still be there.
Unless you are actually talking about BEFORE classic Era became live.
All characters on the old Classic realms not specifically chosen for Classic Era are now on Wrath, the natural progression for characters.
If the realm there were on in Wrath does not exist anymore they are now on Wrath Mograine.

So the realm is showing the number of characters - this is a good sign.
You cloned your characters - that’s a good sign.
Did you try to restore a deleted character from character selection screen? It’s the button with the circular arrow.
I have the exact same issue on different account.
I had the number indicator of the characters on the realm selection screen but when log in the realm, on the character selection screen the characters are not there.

No, it says there are no characters that can be restored.
Then you needed to have acted to have placed your characters on Classic Era, your inactivity means they ended up on the Wrath realms.

But then why does it show a number of characters on that server before logging into that server?
Out of date files in your cache and WTF folders

imagine spending all that time to gear/lvl your character and you pay monthly for the service, after that blizzard just delete it becuz they warn you to clone it!
why dont you automaticly clone the characters !
Blizzard havent deleted any characters from Era.
It’s not deleted, it’s on the same server you left it on, which prgressed to TBC then to Wrath, Era servers were new realms you had to choose to move onto.
Can you imagine how annoyed the people who paid for the service would be if they did that?
All you had to do was log in once in 15 months or so and choose TBC/Wrath or Era for free. Yes, for free, you only had to pay if you wanted your character on both Era and TBC/Wrath.
