I played Hardcore for a year or so until Mists Remix came out then played that and have been playing Retail since then, so probably about June/July last year. A couple of days ago I decided to play Classic for a while but went to Pyrewood, not HC.
I just logged in to Nek’rosh (Hardcore) to have a look at the characters there and I have 5 chars, 3 low level up to about 30, and 2 60s. The 2 60s have been renamed with numbers on the end and I can’t access them as they are “flagged for rename”.
According to the support article :
- Classic versions of World of Warcraft will periodically rename inactive characters. Customer Support has no information on when inactive names will be made available
- To be considered active you must log into the version of World of Warcraft with the character whose name you wish to preserve. For example, playing on a Modern World of Warcraft character will not preserve a Classic or Season of Discovery character’s name.
Neither of the names would cause any offence IMO, they are (or were, rather) Harmony and Enmity.
The support article seems say that being inactive can result in a flagging for rename, but if that was the case why is it just my 2 60s and not the other three characters on Nek’rosh. Or have they been reported and automatically flagged? Just trying to figure out what I need to do to get their names back. Thank you.
Edit: I just tried to rename them back to their original names and I got the “name is in use” message
