how do i turn that off? the whisper window shows an alert just when someone relogs. making me think someone wrote me

There should be controls in your interface settings.
In game Press Escape or ?
Press Interface
Go to Social Section
Now you should find various tick boxes when people log in and out
If you want to turn them off untick things like Guild Member Alert, Online Friends, Offline Friends.
I prefer my whispers not to appear in new boxes (‘New Tab’) so I have mine set to ‘In-line’.
Alternatively have you started using any new addons that may have chat features?
