Hello, after a season in WOTLK Classic where people exploited automation to detect and interrupt casts, now this seems to be used by more and more people in solo shuffle, for instance automatically cast Astral Shift at a specific hp %, detecting and sniping totems, detecting and casting Ring of Peace on priest’s Barrier.
I don’t expect people to be banned because we are already having a low PVP population, but can we not change some API methods to disable this exploit ? I wonder if the API calls can be forced to return null when people are in PVP environment and work outside of it.
Automation such as what you are describing would be a protected function and blocked when called. unless a workaround has been done to get past the protected function this shouldn’t be possible in game.
Automation as you describe goes against the T&C so the addon would be banned and possibly the user as well.
a definite oversight by blizzard if they are actually allowing this.
It’s not allowed.
But it’s not being policed either.
So technically it’s a “do at your own risk” kind of thing.
And a lot of people like risks apparently, after not being banned for a whole season and then keeping their rewards after a vacation period magically arrives then expires.
Ohh joy…
I wonder if it would be possible to make an addon that can pick up on these events and auto report players abusing the system.
May look into attempting to make one if blizz are going to be long heads about it.
No because the report functions are protected as well.
And how would you distinguish between fast player reaction times vs. automation cheat tool and taking in account network latency?
You can’t pick up “events” on the suspected player machine without installing some anti-cheat software of your own on said machine, which is supposed to be the job of Blizzard anti-cheat team anyway.
Yeah, i thought that might be the case with the report function.
I think to distinguish the automation from a reactive player you would look at the consistency of the action and find a pattern. say if someone’s HP drops to 20% and every time this happened bang on 20% they hit a specific CD. A player pressing a CD would most likely be much more randomized in comparison.
I believe you can pick up events from the combat log so this would be the way to go about it i think.
I’m just batting idea about here. it isn’t beyond the wit of man but would be quite a task.
Just ask Thorstenstock, this German Guy, does that Since he started Playing on Warmane/Rising Gods 12 Years Ago
And he also use it on Retail Wotlk now.
He got Banned, for Rmt, not because of Cheating.
So yeah, Blizzard doesn’t care about Wotlk PvP

And how would you distinguish between fast player reaction times vs. automation cheat tool and taking in account network latency?
Well, i got interrupted in the same split second i started to cast a spell many times. No human reaction can do that it’s not that hard to spot.
wintrading, insta interrupts and even full bots in arena’s are normal now a days it looks like… No wonder pvp is dying :>
Mimimi stop lying
Proof it before talking
many times I dispelled within 0.5 sec, and sometimes by mistake I dispelled HoJ within 0.1sec when I wanted to dispell something else.
Also by mistake I Pre rooted DH on his The Hunt spell.
