Choosing server in standard WoW (not Classic)

As I understand it, the balance of fractions does not matter:
turn on warmod - you have pvp, turn it off, no pvp.

And the number of players affects the auction: the number of goods and prices.
It is also easier to collect raids on servers with more players.
Also there are more guilds.

So if I want to play as an alliance, there are two servers to choose from - Silvermoon and Ravencrest. Did I miss anything?

One of them is signed PvP, the other PvE. And what’s the difference?

I also read, they write about some kind of transfer, they say it is on one server and no on the other. What does it mean?

Honestly wouldn’t go on either as they tend to fall over a lot due to population. So during expansion release many people on those servers struggle to play. Or if you are patient, go ahead but have a backup plan like an alt on another server/something else to do.

No servers are PvP/PvE any more just Normal and RP so I am not sure what you are referring to.

Why didn’t you choose Ravencrest, if the number of people is 2 times less than on Silvermoon?

I always choose an RP server because generally it is filled with less rude people and I’m fine playing by myself - the actual roleplaying side I do less of but still.

Server population actually doens’t matter at all unless you wanna do mythic raiding.

You are probably better of choosing high population realms than full realms, as full population realms sometimes crash and they might have long queues during expansion launches.

AH got merged over the whole region and now all stackables items are sold cros realms. So herbs, ores, potions, food, flasks etc, they are all shared on AH over all the realms. Since those stackable items that are used to craft bigger unstackable items have the same price over all the realms, those bigger unstackable items will probably have similar pirce on all realms.

Due to sharding you will see people in the world whenever you go as you will get connected to people from other realms. So even if you dont play on Silvermoon for example you will still see people from Silvermoon in the open world.

And they are no longer PvP and PvE realms, all the realms are either normal, or RP normal. Warmode is the switch that toggles your realm from normal to the PvP one.

AH means auction?

Also, what is the logic?
If both servers (Silvermoon and Ravencrest) have the “Full” status and at the same time the population of one server is 2 times larger than the other, then how much is the concept of “Full” stretched?

In this situation, if Silvermoon has a queue, then Ravencrest shouldn’t have a problem. This is true?

Its easy to find guilds in highly progresssive server for raid progress - thats the only reason you pick top server.

Now a days you can have all things even crossfaction… Even auction house.

Ok.
The question about transfer, I think, also makes no sense now, like the division into pvp / pve.

Then, for the final server selection, I need to find a guild.
Thanks everyone.

AH is the auction house. No one knows exactly what does full and what does high mean, but alsocone know the exact soze of a realm. No one for sure knows that Silveemoon is twice as big as Ravencrest.

I am on a realm called Outland and my realm is quite active, we have a diclscor etc. So you can probably find a guild u like on most of the realms. And in modern WoW guild is also not needed as you can do most of the things with random people.

You can get an idea of realm populations from sites like:-

I always go for a high population realm for my characters, it means there are lots of people around, many guilds to choose from. Even though changes are being made on teh AH, not everything is available region wide and things are much more competitively priced on busier realms as there is lots of supply.

Lots of activity is available cross realm as well but you can only join guilds on your realm. There are ofc some communities that run crosss realm activities, everything but Mythic until it’s unlocked.

I’m based on Draenor for Horde which is one of the busiest realms and I love it. When new expansions hit you will sometimes get find thre is a queue and occasionally with bit patches but on the whole. Only for BfA launch did Draenor and Silvermoon crash. It was resolved on the first night. At the start of the Nathria raid we did have a lot of lag, which resulted in Blizzard offering free transfers.

The old PvE/PvP labels don’t apply anymore and you can transfer to any realm now. They are all War mode on/off.

There are various sites (and discords) that deal with recruitment, some examples:-

Your realm forum will also have listings, these can be found at the bottom of the main forum page:-
