What is going on randomly with choppy gameplay and fps dropping everywhere.
Seems to have bad PC performance overnight. Happening in cities, maw, korthia, many other zones. Screen freezes / fps drops to 10/20/30 when running around, inspecting players, opening map, etc.
Is it just me?
Disabled Addons Up-to-date Drivers Up-to-date Windows Tried DX 11 legacy, 11, or 12. Lowered FPS / settings Disabled Vsync Repair game files Turned off background programs Auto-detect my GPU Boost performance settings on pc Cleaned up temp files / cleaned up PC
Having done all such things, seems to be happening (again) on blizzard’s side?
If yall found similar issues or any fix please update me
This can be quite limiting. Especially if you have something else other than the game and Windows running. Other option is Nvidia driver conflict, thermal throttling or storage problems…
Run userbenchmark before running the game and save the url to results
While the game is running and has problems alt-tab and run userbenchmark again while the game is running
First test was without running WoW in background: h ttps://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/48655373
Second test was with running WoW in background, standing in Oribos: h ttps://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/48657448
I must state that normally WoW runs perfectly on my system, so i dont understand the overnight change in performance. Although ive had that before and then some (hot) fix happens and things seem to be magically fixed
If it was overnight, a corrupt interface is a possibility. I’d suggest a complete interface cleanup. Please follow the steps here outlined and make sure to not reinstall your addons until checking if this improves your performance.
Should this not do the trick, considering you’ve already tried most of the tips we can usually give through the forums, I’d daresay this warrants a personalized support ticket. You can send one through here - and please make sure to attach your system files so our support representative can take a deep look into your system
It could be from windows or driver update or alike.
From GPU percentiles it looks like Nvidia drivers could be in conflict with another driver. You can try removing Nvidia driver with DDU, then check if there are any audio drivers update for your laptop if any and then installing Nvidia drivers fresh.
The other thing is storage performance - both the SDD and HDD have low percentiles. Especially for the SSD you should check if you can clear some stuff off it so it has more free space so it cache works better.
I am having the same issue, Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060.
The game had an update when I logged in today (last time I logged was last Monday so not sure when this Update was released exactly ).
Prior to this ran the game perfectly, no problem. Now I get these major FPS problems no matter what.
That is to say it doesn’t matter if I turn all my settings down to rock bottom and I also tried the Reset Interface linked in this thread the FPS problems are still there so it’s not a “normal” performance issue.
I’ve also updated my Drivers and it made no difference to the FPS problems.
Oh also I forgot to say, I switched to my integrated display driver which didn’t have the same issues as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 but obviously is not nearly as powerful so generally didn’t run the game well.
That’s what’s so strange about this, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 now handles the game far worse from an FPS perspective.
I am getting the same issue. It comes and goes but it started yesterday morning (12th). I can reproduce if I start a second instance of wow and log onto a second account on a second monitor.
Some times just focusing on the other account is enough for lag (i.e. one game foreground, the other background), other times they both run fine at 144fps. Then after a while one or the other will start to lag.
My PC is more than capable of handling that setup (i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 64GB RAM, ROG Maximus XII Hero, 3070 GPU).
At first I thought it was an issue with the Max background FPS setting which was set low, but I changed that to 60fps on both monitors, and it is still the same, intermittent and random lag.
The only thing has changed on my PC yesterday was the Warcraft updates and the window 10 patches for November 9, 2021—KB5007186 (OS Builds 19041.1348, 19042.1348, and 19043.1348).
I have deleted cache, run without addons and the result is the same.
Well if you’ve got the same issue on your monster-pc then its definitely blizzard-side. Again. I don’t know what they’re doing man, these things happen often.
Lol Im running through orgrimmar now with 10fps stutter. its getting worse by the day
Yes, it still happens when I am running with no addons.
Curiously though, if I have both Warcraft screens in the background in windowed mode but visible, but then open a browser and have it in the foreground but with the two screens visible, FPS on both is fine.
The moment I focus on one Warcraft window, the lag appears again on the other.
I am wondering if I have some program perhaps optimising the current active game, which impacts the second copy.
It might be worth a shot to look into overlay-projecting software here - stuff like Discord, Overwolf, Nahimic and similar. They can force applications into low FPS-rates by essentially “hijacking” the display for themselves, and it’d lead to symptoms just as described (especially in the case of multiple program windows).
I did this too. Didn’t dolve the problem. Entering wow is going well, summoning mounts and seeing other players doing their stuff is perfect too. But using my own abilities is crappy lagging. As a mage I jumped off a clip and activated “feather”,… Well,… didn’t work and I died from the fall.
