Chromie level & Consumables - Asking for advice

Hello,

just asking for a tiny bit of advice:

What is the ideal level for Chromie time to play expansions?
Partly to have the best questing experience, partly to enjoy dungeons.
No minmaxing attitude, just trying to avoid troubles, if any.

I have a 53 mage in BC, 49 pally in Legion, and a 40 hunter in WoD.
Talents suggest 59, but the dungeon finder offers fewer dungeons at 53: Ramps, BF, SP, UB. Is there some glitch that Google didn’t show me?

Would you recommend 59, 50, 49, or some other magic number due to scaling?

What about professions and consumables?

In short, I get expansion specific mats and level (in)appropriate recipes.
So, should I simply buy from the AH? Flasks and buff food.

Thanks!

Not sure I understand. Do you mean a level to stop XP at and play the expansion you wish with chromie time? Certainly not 59 because when you return to your capital it throws you out of chromie time and you have to re-enable it. If you join dungeons with xp off the whole dungeon suffers an xp penalty (why? who knows).

At 58 you’d have the most abilities and you can temporarily turn chromie time off to solo all the dungeons and raids for that expansion, bar BfA.

Old professions… always best to gather mats yourself and get what you can’t gather from the AH but people tend to put such things on for ludicrous prices.

I hope that helped 🫣

Like Nimrhs, I’m not sure what you mean either. I will presume you are talking about locking XP.

I don’t know.

I do know that scaling tends to bite in the X6, X7,X8, X9 levels, so stopping between a multiple of ten and that plus 5, so 40-45, 50-55, 60. Especially the former end-of expansion levels.

You could have a look at the forums of the expert twinks

but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of info about Dragonflight specifically yet. People talk about having WoD 40s and Legion 45s characters.

Now, they put a lot of effort into grinding actual BiS, which may mix drops from TBC with lots of sockets, and especially good pieces from BfA. You probably won’t do that. But BoE drops from previous max level content will be easy to grind, or get at the AH.

Thanks for the replies!

My intention with CT is just to play through the storylines, have a couple rounds of dailies and a few visits to dungeons, before moving on to the next one.

My developing gut feeling is that CT isn’t there to revisit old stories on some character, but to streamline leveling.

Since the difficulty is, I tried Google, but it’s all about which is the fastest.

Yes  Outleveling content means oneshotting, I really don’t enjoy that.
First I assumed I’m fine to get 50 (now 60), but was forced to oneshot mode. Quit.
Taking this pally to 49, at 48 got quests and every visit to Orgrimmar I have to listen to some speech about gogo SL. No.

Interesting what you say about 59. Assumed it’s 60.
With the dungeon scaling bug, 50 is the cap for CT.

Really? Super sad. In that case it’s a full-on single player game. :frowning:

i recomend to lock exp at level 57 if u trigger DF at level 58 u cant lock exp seems ( currently bugged )

I overlooked this before.

I don’t believe this is true, exactly. I remember this from Legion 101 twinks, This was to prevent the Legion 101 Twinks from offering levelling boost services by soloing dungeons, That was the first move Blizzard made against them, but after people pointed out how unfair it was they changed the rule.

I believe that if you join LFD alone, the others get no penalty. However, if you make a party before queueing, those in the party get reduced/no XP.

With what everyone else is saying, maybe 45. BfA scaling is weird. Although, you’d want 50 for the Legion raids probably…
