Hey,
are there any consequences to choosing a different expansion than the one you end up playing through, aside from only having the given set of dungeons available in the LFD (which I don’t wanna use anyway)?
In other words, I have chosen WoTLK through Chromie, but I forgot that and went back to TBC regions because I had some quests open there. Are these zones still working exactly the same as if I chose TBC? Because they still seem to be scaled to my level.
You’re OK to continue in Outland!
You CAN go back to Chromie at any time and ask her to switch your expansion to TBC if you like, and that would also switch your dungeon selection.
But if you are just questing through Outland, it will make no difference to you.
If you had chosen some other expansions, it could be a problem, For example, if you tried to quest in Zandalar, in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, you would run into limitations. In that expansion, there is a long core questline that expects you to complete certain quests in a certain order, and the only way to start at the right place to do them all is for Chromie to give you the first quest in that line.
But TBC/Outland is not bound by this rigidity, so anyone can just go there, pick up the first quest they see, and work their way around in whatever order they like.
So you don’t need Chromie to give you a unique starting point for Outland,
