Adding three worst dungeons from this expansion to leveling is a nightmare. These dungeons are either extra boring due to a lot of “RP” gimmick mechanics you have to add to them or due to numerous bugs that break the experience. This is especially important when you are running dungeons multiple times.
Currently, each time when I see one of the:
- Darkflame Cleft
- The Dawnbreaker
- City of Echoes
I instantly want to leave the instance because it’s better to be a deserter for 30 minutes than going through the experience in these dungeons. So, I’m not sure if this aligns with the “Gameplay first” motto.
When you are in the flow zone, going through dungeons, killing mobs, and having something that will break the immersion and artificially slow you down has a terrible impact on how you feel as a player, as all the focus is gone. You feel like you don’t have any control as all the emotional pump is gone.
Eliminating all the “RP” BS from this experience will significantly help. Then, the group would have control over the pace, as how the run goes is purely in the players’ hands.
What is concerning is that it is not the first time it has happened, and it seems like designers do not learn from previous mistakes. But I believe that there are some ancient rules for creating a dungeon experience in the company, and they should get some modern touch, so your people would like to deliver a smooth experience that will align with how the game is played and not how you imagine people should play.
