I have a 4080 Super and 13700K, but sometimes my framerate drops below 60. Maybe it’s because of the high trash count all condensed together, but for some reason when a boss dies it briefly goes back to my set FPS cap. There has to be some kind of effect that causes this.
Noticing the same issue. I’m on a 4070Ti and a 8700k (soon to be changed lol) so I wrote it off to my old CPU but I don’t have any issues in other dungeons.
The issue primarily is noticable after entering the dungeon, until the first boss gets killed. After that it gets better but it’s still noticable sometimes.
Thats becaus you have intel 13700k. Google what is happening to your CPU.
I am aware of the supposed problems, but I don’t have this issue anywhere else other than Cinderbrew Meadery. Its only this dungeon.
30 fps whole Dungeon
I just saw a post on reddit that disabling sound (ctrl-s by default) is the “solution” to the FPS drops.
Did a follower dungeon to confirm.
Pulled most of the first room and with sound on my FPS dropped to the 90s, disabled sound via keybind and my FPS shot up to 138 (my Reflex cap, 144Hz display).
Are you serious? That’d be incredibly odd… so odd that I have to try this.
That’s weird because my old PC doesn’t have issue in cinderbrew, but the stonevault is terrible. My GPU maxes out when I face in certain directions and I drop below 30FPS even out of combat, otherwise I have 60 most of the time.
This is not the first time that disabling sound gives a noticeable fps boost.
Something bugged with the soundchannels i guess.
That’s really interesting. Did you bother to try and figure out which channel might be the culprit? (Music, sound, abience, dialog) ?
I’d like to know whether you have to disable the entire sound of the game of just a specific channel.
In the reddit post people said they had to disable all sound.
Seems like it is still being processed if you don’t disable sound overall.
Darn, that’s a suboptimal solution. Nice to be able to do that but having to disable warning sounds kinda sucks.
The DBM / BigWigs warning channel still works when sound is disabled though.
Oh do they? I didn’t even know that. You learn something new every day.
So i was doing the elite bees WQ in a group (the one you unlock after 3 completed WQs) and had very noticeable stuttering.
I looked at the FPS and they were in the 90s, i then turned off the sound and guess what… back up to 130ish and also the stuttering was gone.
After the q i left the grp and my FPS were normal and no stuttering.
So it has something to do with being in a grp too.
That’s wild man. Maybe some addons like Details or WeakAuras also play a role in this?
I’ve been noticing an immense amount of LUA errors lately in some of my WeakAuras because they were outdated. Some of which even went off every single second because they were checking conditions once a second.
Even after updating them I still get some LUA errors.
They always have an impact but not in combination with sound usually, so that’s weird.
I mean WA can play sounds if you program them to do so. None of mine do though. At least not to my knowledge, so that shouldn’t be the issue in my case.
Yeah thats mostly in dungeons and raids though.
I don’t have any class sound WAs on my shadowpriest which i was doing the quest with.
Maybe Blizzard is simulation the buzzing sound from bees by playing the same sound effect 120 times per second instead of having a continous sound.
Well who knows. Certainly an odd issue though. Blizz tech support where?
