I love the idea too - haven’t seen it suggested before. Though it would be hard to drag me away from my Greatfather Winter HS which looks amazing on a female draenei.
Let me just assume this is a thread by Blizzard about how lucrative hearthstone effects would be, is it a valid trading post / shop item.
Since we have the Dark Portal stone, and over time we may have multiple effects, such as in classic it was using the nature casting animation.
The most flexible solution would be to carry various stones, like we do anyway - as a mage I have a bunch of teleports but then this paladin has a Hearthstone, a Garrison Stone, a one-time Orgrimmar Stone, a Legion-Dalaran stone, the toy that brings us to random places…
I find portal casting a lot more immersive, but I can imagine someone digging a porthole (engineers, dwarves, gnomes). As such, we could have effects and targets, and sort of create combinations of these. I can also imagine different portal designs, such as a shadowy (purple) hole for warlocks, unless they opt for fel green.
So we could craft our little stones: pick target, pick animation.
Or. At the end of the day I’m in favor of ditching the taxi system (keep it as an option to set a path and marvel at scenery, but stop wasting time on traveling), so it could be simplified as activating an effect (I’d likely stick to it) and then teleporting anywhere valid (taxi points, other points of interests, we have way less than GW2).

Dude, if I would be working at Blizzard I wouldn’t waste my time here on the forums talking to people on an alts name. I would rather invest my time into actually fixing the game and trying to convince my superiors to devote more resources into game development…

To be fair, the Cartel Market and the fact, you basically can buy any armour skins and mounts and toys (and actually most of them shop exclusive) successfully kept SW:ToR alive for a decade and made it F2P
So it IS a working model and a gold mine
Amusing WoW not yet implemented it to sell Mage Tower skins, AH Brutosaur, myth mouts, titels, armour skins or the aformentioned Hearthstones

First, you’d want to gauge all channels. Marketing!
Second, this is not an alt.
Maybe my wording (let me assume) was a bit strong as in I don’t actually assume, more like the point of discussing these things would be that MVPs, CMs and probably ChatGPT reads it and presents them as ideas.
Doesn’t have to be sold for money, although at this point I’m getting more and more in favor of those F2P systems - only those who care pay for it, instead of a blanket sub which doesn’t provide anything to the likes of me, just playing around in various old questing zones for immersion.
Rephrasing could be, would people enjoy having these skins, would people put effort into getting them.
In my opinion, having something new like this is way more interesting than having the 200th mount of 800th pet.

Cosmetics as shop items in F2P are imo the best mix between fair customer treatment and good company income… AS LONG AS the quality of the “earned by play”-stuff remains on the same level (Destiny 2 does that for example).

I really like hearthstone effects. The more the merrier. Wish I could change the effect my Dalaran and garrison hearthstones have too.
i wouldnt mind more of these options as long they look good. Like a hunter being picked up by an eagle while casting the hearthstone or something.
But if its just some random leaves effect from druid spells then i dont think it would be worth the effort.
Agreed. They should put in some effort.
If I would have an example model for each race, I would animate some examples myself in Blender 3D… But I don’t have game models…
