I was thinking of and I’d like to suggest a new mage tower similar challenge, although I say similar to mage tower it would be quite vastly different.
It implies a challenge that is renewed each expansions, and a reward that lasts for an entire expansion once the challenge is completed.
The challenge would be magnitudes harder than the final raid of the expansion on mythic difficulty. The form time takes in the challenge is warped, and heroes can go back in the past or alternate futures to deal with catastrophes or world-ending threats, summoned by the world soul itself as the very final line of defense against total obliteration.
The challenge would have stats set in stone which players can not change, and would imply absolute perfect use of all class abilities during the entirety of the scenario.
You would for example be sent to a world on the brink of death being killed by an Old God, and you are summoned there as the last line of defense that could defeat the Old God before the World Soul is destroyed alongside with all living things.
As punishment for failing the challenge you would see the world being destroyed as it’s last hope dies, and it’s people looking in despair. You, being a summoned being would be returned back to Azeroth.
As a reward it would be cosmetic yet powerful and extremely rare. Your class name would be changed to a Grand class, as example a Paladin who completes this challenge would be called a Grand Paladin when other players would mouse over the character. Furthermore, your level would appear in a bright red skull to the enemy faction (ex: Level ?? Tauren Grand Paladin). When applying to any pugs in the group finder your standing as a “Grand” class would be highligted amongst other players applying, such as having a class aura surround your character within the UI to attract the attention of the group or raid leader (class aura would be bright, surround the whole portrait and represent the class color).
Be not mistaken, this challenge is meant for the very strongest and very best players of each class in the world, as previously mentioned it’s a challenge meant to be harder than the hardest mythic bosses of the current expansion. A completely optional challenge which awards these cosmetic rewards. Stats are set in stone and skill alone determines victory or defeat.
You may attempt this challenge as many times as you desire, until you give up of frustration.
The rewards last for the entirety of the currently running expansion, the difficulty does not scale down with the advancement of patches, any and all forms of RNG assistance such as trinkets, systems similar to the essence and azerite systems are fully disabled and only your exclusive class abilities are enabled within this challenge scenario. Once the expansion ends, the challenge is refreshed for the next expansion.
There is no limit to how many players can complete the scenario and receive these rewards, so if 2 Rogues would be skilled enough to complete this challenge, even if they are from the same server, both players would receive these rewards.
Anyone and everyone can participate in this solo challenge, but only the top 1% most skilled would be able to complete it, once again with absolutely NO form of help from your gear optimization or RNG.
