With allied races, reusing skeletons/animations from core races, it’s making it harder to recognize and distinct races from each other… like with the new Void Elf/ Blood Elf customization options.
They emphasize class distinction, YET, they blur the lines between different races. Especially races from the opposite factions.
Allied races are pretty much sub races.
Highmountain Tauren are still Tauren
Dark Iron Dwarves are still Dwarves
The only time this gets confusing is with Nightbourne and Void Elves. But being on different factions you can tell what’s what.
I know this is just a poorly disguised “I hate High Elves” thread but there’s really no issue with how Allied Races were handled.
Also think of Blood/Void Elves as something similar to Pandaren now.
Void Elf is not a race anyway. Its like additional class for your class. Allied Races were so wrong that its mindblowing.
Another thing is Lightforged Draenei. They should Lightforge everything! For Paladin! Paladin visual options!
The only normal race is Vulpera~ Even Zandalari and Kultiran could be just a new body option. Dark Iron Dwarf is no better than Wildhammer… that will be added as customization. Highmountain is just a new horn option. There is mindblow after mindblow.
They took the MoP Zandalari model, who were indeed based on the night elf male but with many modifications, and heavily modified it further.
I think the only animation they share at this point is the Sprint one. The female Zandalari straight up uses the female troll, with a change to their standing still stance.
Whenever they belong to the same faction, they should honestly just rework the character creation screen and make most allied races as a sub-race template within its core race.
Seriously, why would we need the Dark Irons to be listed separately at all?
If their specific name and traits came tied within the choice of a Dark Iron template from the customization menu, they can be just listed under your regular Dwarf on the main character creation page.
Less clutter on that one page, more options within the customization section, and the fans of specific subraces being added with the customization options won’t feel treated any worse than those who got the Allied Races.
Win win for Blizzard and the players with a minimum amount of work, as with the introduction of Exile’s Reach this would not require any new starting zones and racial quest areas.
Imagine people barely recognizing your race and at same time complain about not having blue eyes. You cant tell what elf is that but good thing he have blue eyes right ?
