Run little warrior run!!!
Seriously, they have five teleports. We have 3 gap closers. Now unless I am dumb, and I can be at times, but how are we meant to have a chance in 1v1 scenario? We don’t do we? Am I missing something?

Paper beats rock, rock beats scissor, scissor beats paper.
Only with a ton more moving parts.
In general, Warrior will do a lot better vs others with support. It can turn a fight that is impossible to win (vs a decent player) like a feral or your example a mage. Into a fight that you can win.
Warrior is also prone to lose fights 1v1, but crush once they got someone to help keep them going. So don’t look at 1v1, look at 2v2 or more.
As we talking fantasy, think of the scenario like this:
A warrior cant do much if they can not connect. Still, it could also have been a:
Both these fantasy scenarios are in the game. It is reflected in that if the Mage is experienced they can get on top and in control of the situation and its events. Failing to do so, as in fantasy and ingame, the mage do get dealt with by the warrior. The Mage do have the advantage in general, but mistakes could be made. Same as in a duel with a warrior. Yet, overall, the Mage should win. How hard is it to blink and freeze after all?
Now to the third scenario:
Of course this reflects how the danger is so much more real when the warrior is unstoppable, the axe will connect. Then you add some dramatic flare to make home the point of what is going on. Once you combine a warrior innate ability to close the gap, and add on top the freedom from movement impairing abilities, things flip. The Mage who was easily in control and at an advantage, now from one action of the other party is forever behind in the trade of Resources that is abilities.
… And to end it more realistic fantastic scenario:
Very insightful response, thank you. What actually caused my rant was isolating my horde warrior from the group in AV to leap onto a hillside to face down a mage which led to my comical but infuriating demise.
I will think about that 2v2 point you suggested going forward.
/salute
whiles that theory scenario is fun and all, the problem here mainly is ““Of course this reflects how the danger is so much more real when the warrior is unstoppable, the axe will connect.””
Dono about you folks but i havent felt like cloth users in general have been ever squishy in a looooong time, everyone has the same Hp now days and if they dont have 2-3spells to boost them with shields and damage reduction, even past all that busting one down is near impossible to pull off.
Indeed Renvy. As far a Blizzard’s Class Fantasy goes - it’s comical. I read somewhere only recently the description of casters as being tanks in dresses which I found to be very apt.
Warrior class was always weak in 1vs1 but monster in 2vs2 where you have a healer.
Mainly because you generate rage from damage you take and with some one to keep you alive your rage as sky rocketing.
Idk if warrior still generate rage from damage they take like back in the days.
You may “only” have three gap closer but there are several other ways to get close to a mage.
You could stun him and if he indeed did skill flimmer(or how its named) he cant even blink out of there.
You can use Avatar for snares/rootes and walk to him or just bladestorm.
You could spear him.
And if you are smart(like me) and play gnome(the best of all warriors for sure) you even have escape artist for one more root removal.
Alright , let me do some simple math for you Wölf, so we have 3 gap closers as warriors, and 1 trinket + Avatar and bladestorm and no i will not count the spear beacuse it can be blinked, alterd time out of, and if we bladestorm, they iceblock ( if they feel like they need it) then we have to stop bladestorming and start to throw shattering throw…wtich again only helps them beacuse it gets their cds closer to comming up for a second round.
This is almost every get out of jail card spell a mage has .
Alter time - 50 seconds cd cast it once you create this copy that you can teleport back to within 10 seconds.
Forst nova 2 charges with 30seconds cd
Blastwave a 8 yard knockback 25second cd( on tool tip ) however when talented that knockback is increased to 25-30.
Cone of cold - 15 second cd 5 second root.
Displacement - 45 second cd teleports you back to where you last blinked from and heals you, usable 8 seconds after casting blink. ( so a second alterd time )
Time manipulation - casting icelance on frozen targets ( that thing we will be 70% of the fight) reduces the cooldowns of all loss of controll effects by 2 seconds, this effect btw flows with Fingers of frost witch is a chanse they can get that can be stacked up that their forstspells treats the target as if it was frozen and 18% chanse from casting frostbolt and icelance and 10% ( if talented) whenever your barrier takes damage. This makes it very hard to predict when their cooldowns are down or up
Note that i have not even got to the blink yet, dont worry we’re almost there.
Iceblock we all know it we all hate it, imune from all stuff except shattering throw, witch we have to spend a cast time to break, during those seconds btw the mage also heals inside his block of ice.
Cold snap, this spell RESETS COOLDOWNS of Frost nova, cone of cold, Ice block ( with a 30 second down time to recast ) Ice barrier … oh right, the barriers plenty of those.
Dragons breath, 4 seconds disorientation 45 sec cd.
Icy veins 2min cd spawns a water elemental that lasts for 30 seconds, has a freeze root with 25 second cd so they can get two casts of that off.
And finaly blink or shimmer talent - Base blink 20 yard teleport that breaks root stunns and snares and gives you a barrier based upon your max health
Shimmer - 2 charges 23 second cd, dose not break stunns and snares but can be used whiles casting.
and im not gonna go to deep in to the 4 ways they can apply a 60-80% slow on their enemys with next to no downtime as it flows in with their other cds.
There is also pvp talents that gives them extra slow and root options.
But i think i will leave it at this, take all of that witch i just listed pluss the fact that their spells have a 40 yard range, where the warrior charge sits at 25 and the heroic leap abillity 40.
We 1 abillity that can catch them at max range, if thats off we are looking at 45 seconds where we cannot reach them at al, 45 seconds in witch they have all of that to throw at us, your little gnome racial wont do anything.
Nobody said warriors are eating mages for breakfast.
Is it frustating at times? For sure.
But talking like we could go afk and just watch your char die isnt right either.
And a mage that can manage all those cds you are talking about can dance on my corspe all they want.
Mages could also cry about druids all day because they counter them hard but i dont see them doing it.
“frustrating at times?” warriors already spend 80% of arena locked in cc and walking to catch their enemy.
So far you all the things you listed as ways to fight back can all be halted in their tracks with the push of one button, for every 2 cooldowns we use they have to use 1 to counter it thats just facts, if a mage loses to a warrior they are bad and cant play their class, there is no instance where the warrior is good, they just beat a bad mage that could not play, not that satesfying is it?
And while druids posses the abillity to get out of their frost roots they still have enough damage to even the score, it’s a far more fair fight then the walk in the park it is when dealing with a warrior.
You talk as if there is a solution or something that can be done to fight against it, but so far that only leans towards “oh you can beat the mage if they are bad” thats a poor argument.
I dont bring arguments that mages have free wins against warriors. Its just that it has been this for decades.
Everybody knows it, most stoped to care(like me) because nothing will happen. Otherweise warries would be crazy op.
On the other side, frost mage dmg is barely what i would call high.
Okay I found one old joke, like 15 yrs old or more:
Warrior: “I suck in 1vs1 PvP, it’s not fair.”
Everybody: “It’s fine, you rock with a healer, l2p man.”
Warrior: “I found a healer, I rock now, awesome.”
Everybody: “OMG NERF!”
LOL THIS! EXACTLY. Our 1v1 capabilities are ridiculous
I main a mage and you’re right, warriors a joke lol
But that was like age ago. Todays situation, when everybody got everything, is much worse. Also Arms is 1st target like everytime.
