Had this question in my mind, just curious to hear your take on this:
I feel like priest is the only class who has a neat contrast in specs and class fantasy, these two being either light or shadow. And, despite having disc which should be a balance between the 2, I feel like we have very opposite schools inside 1 class. On the other hand, you have palas, which are only light, and their specs are about how to use the light. The same can be said for druids, shamans, mages, warlocks. All of them use the same schools more or less (well except for warlock we may say, although all of the magic sources they use are “evil” aligned, so to speak, so they don’t really have a moral contrast, they just use whatever is the most powerful school of magic for their purposes).
Whereas priests to some extent feel like they have 2 distinct classes compressed in 1: the “evil” cultist, and the “pious” priest, to simplify it. Now, among the 2 or even 3 if we count the balance spec, which one would you feel represents priest the most? Or which one do you identify the most with?
I’m not pretending there’s a right answer, just out of curiosity.
I was wondering this due to the upcoming class sets which are clearly Shadow Priest like, whereas the tier set for instance, is a bit more on the holy side.
As a shadow priest main my answer would be shadow, cause we don’t share this fantasy with paladins, hence it’s more recognizable.
The holy part still is a very sturdy pillar though - arguably studier than shadow itself, but less iconic maybe.
