So, Warlock forums.
Decided to roll Warlock solely for PvP, this coming from someone who mained mostly Warrior and Rogue, I wanted to try Warlock since I had tried it in a private Cataclysm server and I liked it, it went alright…
Now, maybe it’s because I’ve just been doing world pvp, but even on mobs, there’s a few things that really make me wonder wether Blizz was smoking or not when they changed things.
Why is life drain dealing less damage (and healing less) than a literal basic staff attack? Huh? Bug?
Why is shadowfury cast now? And a grossly slow one at that??
I have hellcaller as hero talent, so it replace immolate… Am I just to spam Incinerate and whenever possible chaos bolt?
Why’s chaos bolt so slow without Backdraft?
Why is soul fire a ball now? lmao.
I have always been reading people complaining about melee vs caster and I wasn’t sure how true it was to an extent; fighting range was so so to good on Warrior.
Lost to a Hunter so dramatically it wasn’t even funny…
because the game is different and you don’t ever really need to use that unless you’re affliction or in 0.0000001% of overworld situations literally just be glad that it isn’t pruned at this point for other specs which is what thsi company loves to do
nobody knows
melees will have 100000 gap closers and 5000 stuns but we can’t have a single instant stun because blizzard hates the class
chaos bolt is supposed to be slow because it’s destro’s main damage ability
Actually sad.
I mean life drain was an iconic ability; didn’t WL’s have it since vanilla?
It’s so sh3t now, lol.
I still remember being feared and drained.
It’s making me being off put off of Warlock.
Sad.
among other things, the excuse of saying that the warlock doesn’t need mobility due to his excellent defenses totally disappears since all these defenses have been halved. For example, the mage has so many defensive ones that it is as if the warlock had mortal coil, shadowfury instant 30 sec cd, howl of terror.
I would add the fact that in addition to the often bland defensives, I would like to understand if the healthstone is heavily buggy (and given the state of the current warlock it wouldn’t surprise me at all) considering that as soon as certain melees touch you and I use it with soulburn if I recover 10% life it’s half a miracle.
I would add that the damage is disturbingly low, and I am referring to destruction and demonology especially hellcaller and diabolist (which for totally unknown reasons are either buggy - what a novelty - or the stealth nerf is pure madness. The internal CD of whiter and ritual has disintegrated everything, given that there were no compensations of any kind.
On drain life I wrote several posts and a specific topic as soon as I read that inevitable demise and grim feast had been removed. It is a spell totally without logical sense, which will keep company with ritual of doom and corruption for destruction and demonology.
Another absolutely incomprehensible thing is the fact that in the past when a spec was objectively broken, it was almost immediately hot fixed to avoid problems. I think of the early DF Demonology, which was objectively too powerful in damage, resistance and CC. Now I wonder how it is possible that the first season starts in 2-3 days and the mage frosts have not been touched in the slightest despite them being embarrassing
Destro lock has a steep learning curve if you are coming from warrior and rogue. You need alot of weak auras for your procs and you need a DR tracker addon too. Alot of destro pvp is conflag >instant cast (mortal coil / infernal) > chaos bolt > fear > kicked > chaos bolt > fear off target > kicked > chaos bolt etc. Also if you play arena 3s it’s very setup based. You need to coordinate with your teammates to CC all enemies so you have space to cast 2 big chaos bolts on the stunned main target.
That’s my crash course on destro pvp. You will learn the rest with experience but it is a painful road.
Diabolist pets target enemy pets / clones / illusions and whatever in pvp. That’s why you see your pitlord get summoned but the enemy healthbar doesn’t move.
