Class for casual beings

Hi there,
I have a kind of dilemma about classes, I mean which one to play. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, or if anyone else had already made a topic about it, feel free to link it!

What my noodle brain is looking for are:

  • be good for solo play (decent damage and survivability)
  • have some relation to lore
  • be able to hit raids and dungeons up to Legion and Torg

I’m mostly interested in lore, maybe slight LFR, 0 PVP. I tried DH, but it’s not the best after lvl 50 as I’ve seen it, I enjoy SV hunter, but I’m afraid it’ll be stomped in Torg.

Thanks in advance!

Paladin, or enhancement shaman.

Pala have more surv than enha, but enha is my favorite. Both has self heal, also good for solo.

Blizz promised that they fix legacy raid tunning in the next patch, so it recommended to wait until 9.1.5 hits live servers.

Bm hunter I guess. Easy to maneuver, fast paced, got pet to tank, has a tool for most situations if not all, unique playstyle which is basically a melee at range.

That or paladin in my experience, but DH could also work.

For solo play, and soloing old dungeons and raids, anything with a tank spec is better than anything without a tank spec. BM Hunter, and Warlock, do have tanking pets, and can serve, but they’re not quite as good for this purpose.

Of the tanks, Warrior is the weakest for soloing in its basic design, because it doesn’t have reliable self-heals on single targets, so unless you feel attracted to it, I’d pass.

I always say that Druid is the ideal soloing spec on paper. You have Guardian as a true tank, Prowl on Feral for stealth, and the best ranged pulling power in the game as Balance, when you just want to stand in the middle and destroy all the weak mobs around you. But you have to enjoy being in the various animal forms. If you do, then Druid is your answer.

Paladin would be my preferred choice. You have lots of abilities and “Oh &^%” buttons like Insta-full-heal and Bubble, decent self-heals as Ret, and very solid self-heals as Prot. Prot usually has decent single-target dps for a tank as well. Also, great animations and choice of transmog!

Plenty of lore on both, ofc!

DH was fun even in lvling dungeons as a havoc, but as soon as I went out to see Mawland, I have 0 dmg…

With hunter I do enjoy survival, but I’m afraid if I’d go Torg, my pet would die. Although it might help to get a clefthoof and not a cat

Paladin is a sure bet, and the mogs you can get for them are pretty good as well.

DH is another, but I see you already tried that one.

DK can be another option due to self-healing.

Hunter (alteast BM) can also be a decent option due to having a pet for single target situations.

Thorghast is easy as hunters… though im bm

Thought so  SV is extremely fun tho especially the grapple which is really hard to leave behind… I even did the legion class hall legendaries as SV.

I think I’ll give prot Pally a go, although some people say on forums that they are really squishy…

BM hunter or Demo Lock if you are into pet classes. Otherwise, Protadin has decent utility and selfhealing.

I vote for paladin and druid.

People have already elaborated on paladin above, great mix of tankiness, dmg and visuals, a bit slow but overall a good experience.

But in druid you get the whole package, stealth, dmg, if you go cat or chicken, heals and health, four(!) specs to choose from for any type of content and is casual friendly, imo :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m not into furry things  back in BC and WotLK I was a resto Druid and I loved it, but now I don’t want to be a mum anymore to 24 muppets…

So yeah, I’ll give Pally a go!

Prot Pally squishy?

In raid or M+ content at or above their ilevel, maybe, sometimes, depending on patch balance - but that’s not what you asked for!

You asked for a soloing option.

Nobody ever called Paladins squishy for soloing.

The answer I always give is Demonology Warlock.

Soulstone, Healthstones, drain life, tanky Felguard able to help people summon and good fun in Torghast with the right powers.

Oh, good!
I mean probably I will do some dungeons from current content, but my focus is on lore and raids for mogs and more lore. If I won’t die in Legion raids on higher difficulty I’m happy

When you ding, get ilevel 200. You can buy a set of the crafted stuff, plus one ilevel 230 piece.

Get Mastery, which is everything for Prot and perfectly good for Ret, and Versatility on every piece. Pick up a 160-ish one hander and shield at the AH while you’re there. You will get better in Korthia and even from WQ eventually, but that will do for now.

Keep an eye on your WQ for the first week for upgrades to your other slots, and conduits.

You are now equipped for Legion raids up to … I would say Nighthold Mythic? 9.1.5 will see the tuning, so you should be clear for the whole lot thereafter.

I read on forums that their pets are squishier than hunters’ hence people prefer hunters as a pet solo

Nope. Hunter pets rez is long and Demo Locks can insta rez theirs… I play two Demo Locks and have no issues.

Mage. The class you are looking for sounds like a mage. : D

any tank spec tends to have good off specs which are mutually stupidly easy to play

So far I’ve been doing fine, I use Lighting Paw as my pet. It may die here and there at low ilvls, but it’s not too much of a stress to revive him (especially if you’re BM, by the time enemies reach you, your pet is up again).

I’d suggest you Warlock as well, all specs are pretty good, although compared to Hunters should you find yourself in trouble, you have less tools to escape hairy situations (except for your not-so-feign-death which does the job but on a long cooldown).
