Class Ideas for Future

Hello. Adding some brainstorming I’ve been having about class ideas for anyone who might be interested

As far as things are now there are the regular classes and the Hero (DK, DH) classes. I propose a third kind of class, the Champion classes. How will it work? Once you reach the highest level possible, you might choose to “Champion” your character, instead of choosing a talent specialization. Somehow like a fourth path, one that you won’t be able to switch back from easily though. There would be 10 new classes this way: 5 for the Alliance and 5 for the Horde, each a combination of two existing regular classes.

The ones I thought of were:

Priest of the Moon (Alliance, available for Hunters and Priests): Elune’s priests, now unisex, fervently serving her in her most vengeful, yet just phase. Bows and holy/arcane AoE dps and single target disrupts. Cloth wearers.

Occultist (Alliance, available for Druids and Warlocks): A dark druid! Corrupts life, creates mutations. Powerful self-only healing abilities, MC spell on hunter pets, poison damage and non-controllable mutated minions.

Prophet (Alliance, available for Shamans and Monks): These men and women of old times had predicted much of the events that would befall Azeroth. They are back, having reached the points where their prophecies end, this time to determine the future. Self-healing, protective spells, melee nature/fire dps.

Inquisitor (Alliance, available for Paladins and Mages): A holy damage ranged dps. No healing, but higher protection stats than a mage and lots of armor penetration.

Warden (Alliance, available for Warriors and Rogues): Warrior-Rogue being the only common combination both factions get, the Alliance gets the Warden. We all know them, some love them, some hate them. Melee - based with some medium range ranged attacks. Poisons, traps, and blade slicing.

Blademaster (Horde, available for Warriors and Rogues): Warrior-Rogue being the only common combination both factions get, the Horde gets the Blademaster. You will get to know these folks through Warcraft 3 if you don’t know them already. An iconic choice, blade dancing, limited stealth, and survivability

Dark Ranger (Horde, available for Hunters and Warlocks): People have been asking for this one. A Hunter without a pet and with shadow damage added to attacks.

Witch Doctor (Horde, available for Priests and Shamans): Please

Spellbreaker (Horde, available for Druids and Paladins): An anti-mage! Based on WC3 unit of same name, can control magic. Plays with buffs and debuffs, resists magic damage, causes physical/magic damage.

Battle Mage (Horde, available for Mages and Monks): Leather wearer, arcane/fire damage. Melee with some limited range abilities. Casts orbs and bombs that explode after some time, with different effects.

As for Hero Classes, one I could think off was the Sea Witch. With possible connections to both the Naga and the Kul Tirans/Zandalari, the Sea Witch is another bow (or staff) wielder that utilises a combination of physical and magical damage, along with protective spells. Talents: Stormcaller (Nature DPS), Curator (protective spells and bow), Binder (Arcane DPS, debuffs)

Finally, there are a lot of flaws in what I suggest probably, but I can only hope that they might just give something new to developers and start a discussion with players to see what could be popular

I’d rename it to Champion/Heroic specialisations.

I had nearly the same idea but you stole it away :stuck_out_tongue:  (I should have not been so lazy to write it!)

Anyway I’d obviously love something like this to happen. There are some issues with the armour/weapons (you’d have to keep different type sets for specs etc) for these classes as well as why to lock some of them behind the factions? Sure Moon priests, Wardens, Witch doctors and Dark rangers seem quite possible to be faction-locked, but some would fit both

Occultist is kind of the only one that is out of place, but otherwise great choices

YES PLEASE!!! ANYTHING WITH A BOW AND MAGIC IS VERY WELCOMED. YES, LOVE THIS IDEA. BEST CLASS!

OMG THIS TOO :exploding_head:

Seriously though, I would love to have a class that mixes a bow with magic. I also want an arcane warrior, melee. Holy has both ranged and melee, dark magics are also ranged and melee (DK, warlock), nature magic has ranged and melee (both druids and shamans can be both), but arcane magic is only ranged. I wouldn’t mind if they incorporated battle mage and spellbreaker into just one class (two specs like DH). And I would like them to use plate or mail.

As for your basic premise the fourth path seems to be a “hero class” you have to level your way to (imagine all the gating threads about it :grimacing:). That could be an interesting approach, although I doubt it will be done as it’s just too different from what we have in game. But I would welcome a system like this if it was implemented

Finally someone who is as much devoted to get new ranged class!

Seriously Blizz, make it happen

They can make Spellbreaker/battle mage/warden (+ even shadow hunter) mashup and change their spells according to the player’s race, giving it much more racial flavour similar to e.g. druids. In this case they can create one class from mechanical point of view, but in fact they would give multiple highly sought up classes.

I think there would be quite some people who would welcome that, could be wrong!

This amount of difference is bound to make some enemies, people are resistant to change. But people also whine that the game stays the same without new features and sometimes when someone whines, they just protest for the sake of it. They still like the changes deep down though

Btw, I didn’t know if this was the right section of the forums to post, but saw some other posts about future content and so I did. I like this game and I want it to endure and evolve, without losing its good parts. Classic is going to be around for nostalgia, anyways. Expansions come every one or two years and I think there is content to utilize.

Personally there are two things I would like to see, in one or maybe, if things go well, two expansions. The first is an underwater content bundle. Maybe in the lands beyond the ends of the current map of Azeroth, with Naga as a playable race. I would love a Naga char. The only problem I can think of being really serious is that they would have to make pants being sort of like a kilt and shoes being decorations for the tail or something. The Sea Witch Hero Class can come here

The second thing I would like to see is a big, full - fledged Light vs Dark expansion. Elune revealing more about herself and an antagonist (perhaps one of the biggest Old Gods?) scheming to corrupt both the Alliance and the Horde. All players would need to choose Light or Dark, and should they choose Dark, enter a “hidden” third faction, while still working for their initial faction. With the Scourge, the Twilight’s Hammer and the Burning Legion broken, this new organization would have to prove much more nefarious and clever. The whole theme would be that Light and Dark, Life and Death, Nature and Fel, etc. cannot continue coexisting and things lead to conflict, everything polarized, including Alliance vs Horde. I thought of the Champion class system in this context.

But anyway, too much brainstorming, I have work IRL to do  Hope that if any of the (maybe not that original or new) ideas I had are not totally bad, maybe they can inspire Blizzard devs

The problem with your class ideas is that I have a hard time imagining more than one spec for each of them. They sound more like new specs for existing classes

That’s the idea, yes  A fourth specialization option, available to two classes each. So for example a troll warrior could choose instead of arms, fury or protection to choose the champion specialization, becoming a blademaster. A blademaster himself has no additional specs to choose, only talents.

I love the idea of druids being able to mc or dominate a hunters pet and be able to sic It on the hunter … very smart. hunter pets are way too strong so itd be awesome to turn it back on the hunter.

I don’t like the idea of expanding already existing classes because it would be impossible to cater for some many different specs and pvp/pve would become even further unbalanced.

A new class entirely, and my vote goes to a frankensteins monster type that can remove its arm so that it fights on its own and shoots electricity from its neck bolts etc.

Next class is 100% Tinkerer, everything in this Expac hints towards it.

I really hope so. I really want a tinkerer, but I want it to be a ranged dps class with a tank and healer spec, and wearing mail.

Seriously, I really don’t see why a tinkerer can’t be ranged. They can throw devices, and use devices that cast ranged spells.

A tank spec would have been amazing with a mech suit, much like druids have bear form.

A healer spec can use the same idea as for ranged dps, with devices as tools to heal allies. Heck, it would have been awesome if we got to see a AoE healing spell where you put on a flying suit/rocket pack, fly around over their heads and AoE heal your allies just below. It doesn’t have to be in the air pr. say(because it would be OP if you could just avoid ground effects), but visually it would look like you flew over your allies heads, but you would still be hit by ground effects etc., simply because your hitbox would still be connected to the ground.

Been thinking of posting a tinkerer suggestion for a long time, because I have seen the same signs… that we could potentially finally get something like it, and I just really want it to at least have a touch of what I visualize for it. It’s the only class I actually consider swapping main for(I’ve had the same main, druid, since 2007), if it works out somewhat how I would have wanted it to be like.

But seriously, we really do NOT need more melee. And at least, if tinkerer were to have a melee spec, at least give it 4 specs like druids… a ranged one too. That said, I really don’t see why a tinkerer can’t be ranged(some people claim it can’t), it’s just a person with the benefits of many creative devices and mech suits(?!), so please make it happen… I really want to see it… Imagine a very advanced engineer, and please make it heal, tank and do ranged dps… please… only add a melee spec if there’s gonna be 4 specs… and please make it wear mail. We need another mail class, and I’d say tinkerer sounds perfect for wearing mail.

Yes, I really have high hopes to see a proper tinkerer class… and I have never been one to want new classes. The tinkerer is the first one I’ve wanted that we didn’t have in vanilla, and it sounds like a very unique class with decent roots ingame already. Please!

I don’t even think it needs much race restrictions, as with the monk, tinkering can be learned. Just look at the profession Engineering. The tinkerer would just be a very advanced engineer. Pretty much any race can learn those arts, in my head anyways.

Poisoner. Class that would be focused on poisons and how they buff you. You can throw poison vial to dot someone, you can inject poison into someone’s veins to get some effects like paralysis or stun. Class would be able to drink different poisons with cool mechanics, like “Drink poison of sorrow giving 1000 haste for 15 sec. If you don’t drink remedy, poison will kill you after those 15 sec.” Ofc Remedy would have proper cooldown so you wouldn’t drink and cure all the time. Also, poisoning your weapons, poison aura (which would work like mage frozen armor) but when someone hits you in melee he is slowed or badly poisoned, that stacking debuff would cause slow, periodically fear or very little dot which would grow in power as melee is taking more stacks from hitting you. Also it would be semi ranged class like survival hunter, some skills melee, some ranged. I would love to play something like this  And i would love to play model of Professor Putricide, or someone from apothecary society
