What I really miss and would love to see more in game are class quests.
A lot of times when I’m leveling a character or doing some main questline quests, I have a feeling that my class/character doesn’t really belong there. I really enjoyed the class questlines in Legion where every class has its own way of dealing with the crisis because it made you feel you have a large role in the fight against the legion. In BFA and SL it feels… a bit less engaging and I don’t feel that I fit in the story for example my Warlock who plays Night Fae. Why would a warlock join Night Fae and how can the Warlock help compared to other classes?
I would love to see even some small changes to some quests how your class would deal with some situations and have a bit more clearer vision what the Covenant you joined expects from you. Or maybe that some characters you meet in shadowlands will react to you differently if u a certain class.
Whats your opinion on this? Would you like to have more class lore/depth woven into quests?
When DK started at ‘old level 55’ that was the whole idea of the Ebon Hold start zone…
What level does a DK start at, now?
Back when we only had the nine OG Classes, there was a lot more Class based content, for major additions to a Class, like Warrior Stances & ‘OG iconic abilities’, like Whirlwind.
However, that was in a time when Classes tended to be more pigeon-holed that they’ve ever been since.
I think DK’s start at lvl 10 now and have that Bolvar questline. Atleast for allied races.
But the old DK questline was really great and gave u a great backstory, can’t wait for WotLK classic actually just to play the old DK again
Class Quests were the OG Legion Class Hall, when Class &/or spec. identity mattered.
Too much of the newer game revolves around whether you play the right Class to get the job done, rather than the ability to play your Class well… too little willingness for newer generations of players to adapt to who they’re Grouped with (in RDF, mostly).
I’m quite happy to remember how OG DK’s came into the world… something about how the SL ‘squish’ changed that has put me off ever wanting to create another one.
I just checked and u still have the Arthas DK’s questline. Not sure if questline is altered much since I haven’t made a new DK in a while
I don’t think the SL squish itself ruined anything, the leveling to max level is probably faster than u would level from lvl 58 to 80 in that time. Maybe it decreased the fantasy a little bit since u start on a lower level than u did before but I can live with that.
But you can go straight to Northrend or Pandaria or Draenor or Broken Isles or Kul Tiras or Zandalar and you get gear that’s from there and not Westfall.
Yeah thats good and I like that, its cool to be able to instantly go to a expansion you like.
I think what @Eighjan means is that DK’s always started from a much higher level compared to others and now that they start from a lower level so they feel less powerful.
Class quests would be great in WOW. I loved the class hall experience in Legion. With SL WOW could have had the following:
Initial story questline
Covenant questline
Class questline
Profession questline
If we had these types of quests with the same types of rewards we had from the covenant questline, I think people would have been much more happier, plus all those mogs that are anima gated could have been rewards from the class questline
The leveling experience should have class quests again as it did in Classic, ones that reward a strong weapon and learn you a skill (e.g. berserker stance and Whirlwind Axe).
Those quests are beyond legendary. I miss them so much.
Still got my whirlwind axe on several characters on live including this one.
In all honesty when I look back on it, I realise just how much I personally enjoyed Legion.
I know for a lot of people their character/class/spec is just a roll to serve a function; that being the best spec for a raid or battleground.
But to me personally, I put quite a bit of thought into the fantasy of the class I play. I’m a Druid, I have a deep connection to the spirits of nature and nature itself. I absolutely loved it in Legion being amongst other Druid’s in the class hall, completing quests that made me feel like an actual Archdruid.
I’ve recently been levelling an alt Rogue and have been completing Legion content in order to get the class mount, and it felt awesome being in Dalaran sewers; I felt like an actual Rogue/Assassin, with a secret underground lair, all the cloak & dagger stuff, sneaking into Stormwind and assassinating targets. It felt amazing to fulfil the role of a Rogue within the world.
I just wish we had more content like that, which ties in to the current expansion. Still have a centralised hub but each class has a base within that hub where they can have class-related dailies, such as rogue’s working with The House of Eyes in Maldraxxus, or Druid’s aiding the Night Fae in nurturing souls of nature back into life.
It just doesn’t make sense to me how the Druid’s of Azeroth, or the Uncrowned, or the Shaman’s of the Earthen Ring were only interested in fighting the Burning Legion, but are now like, nah, we’ve done our bit, we’re not bothered about the Jailer.
I’d like there to be a quest for all new spells and abilities. I remember a Paladin quest to go find someone, turned out he was dead and we learned resurrect in order to bring him back. Short couple of quests but explained the spell perfectly.
Monks have their training in Temple of the White Tiger where they can practice some of their abilities, like how to interupt.
I do see an issue with having to go to a trainer every few levels though. Would need a teleport like what Monks have to be practical.
