Class skins are long overdue

There is no need to add new classes, just give us class skins, it will make everyone happy because this would allow us to play “new classes” and it would lift some of the race/class restrictions without messing with the lore.

Warlock --> necromancer
Demo = Unholy
Affliction = Shadow
Destruction = Lich (?)
It would come with pale skin, white eyes and face painting custimization options. (And regular warlocks should have a green glowing eye option tbh)

Night elf priest–> priest of Elune

The spec names should stay the same and shadow would be like a night warrior just ranged.

Night elf paladin --> warrior of Elune

Retribution= sentinel
Protection= night warrior
Holy= holy

Plus allow them to use those sick night elf glaives.

Windwalker monk --> blademaster

Plus, let them tmog 2 handed swords and add a few new animations since they will be using their sword instead of their fists.

Troll demon hunter --> Shadow hunter

I’m not sure about spec names and special effect becase I don’t know too much about shadow hunters. We would need more glaive tmog tho.

Darkspear/Zandalari priest–> loa priest

Holy= Priest of Lokua
Disc= ?
Shadow= Priest of Bwonsamdi

Zanadalari paladin --> Warrior of Rezan

Spec names should stay the same I guess.

Darkspear/Zandalari warlock --> witch doctor

I don’t know too much about witch doctors either so I don’t have any ideas for spec names.

Kul tirans should difinitely be allowed to be tidesages but I’m not sure if priest or shaman would be the best class for this.

Lightforged shadow priest --> inquisitor

They should also replace the shadow abilities of disc priests with light abilities.

Void elf/ mag’har holy priest --> shadowmender

Mag’har priests of the light are traitors and mag’har can only be priests due to the shadow priests of the Shadowmoon clan. Disc should also only have shadow abilities.

Blood elf/nightborne warrior --> battle mage

I’m not too sure about this one either but a battle mage would definitely make more sense for an elf than a regular warrior. They just need to add some magic plate tmog.

Night/blood elf mm hunter–> dark ranger

I’m not sure if nelf dark rangers serve the horde by free will or if Sylvanas was mind controlling them, but if they were just mind controlled and want to rejoin the alliance then it would make sense to allow night elf players to be dark rangers too.

Goblin/gnome/mechagnome (and maybe even draenei and lightforged draenei) druids–> tinkers

Bear form is a big robot that they hop into
Cat form is a mechanocat that they ride
Moonkin form is also a big robot, but this one shoots lasers or rockets
I don’t know what tree form should be but healers should summon little healing robots

Night elf rogues --> wardens

Well we don’t really have any warden tmog yet and we haven’t seen any male wardens yet but who knows, maybe it could work.

And finally, let worgen warriors use their claws instead of swords and let feral worgen druids use the pack form or just stay themelves when they use cat form.

Class skin could be a really cool adition to the game. Maybe even having some epic long quest line to unlock those powers for your class.

Would also add that Fire Mages could easily get a Blood Mage skin. Just with a blood plague spreading instead of ignite.

Don’t really agree with all these and not sure we should have a bunch of new class and spec names that can confuse things, but class skins as an extra layer of visual customization is neat.

This so much.

Unless there is a gameplay difference there should not be a renaming of a class ‘‘skin’’. You can have skins without making the tooltip say Necromancer instead of Demonology.

New names for things should be exlusively reserved for actual gameplay differences.

As I recall it’s how it works in Heroes of the Storm, you can use skins that change the sound and visuals of abilities but the abilities and characters don’t change name.

Well, looking forward to have a shiny blue magical Death & Decay for my Nightborne DK at least.

I like always having more customizations but i am strongly again this idea. It would just cheapen and simplify the whole idea of having a new class and last thing this game needs it cheapen and simplify any features that have been base thing for ages. Either add new classes or don’t, but not cheap it by having them as merely “skins”.

I think this could get really confusing. Nice idea but not very practical.

Don’t agree mainly because I think some of these classes deserve to be actual classes instead of just a reskin of an existing class. They could add some of your suggestions under the form of glyphs however.

Omg! YES! Finally someone with common sense!

There could be an option above talents where you would be able to turn off class skins names, and above the PvP talents, an option not to see enemy class skins at all. THERE! Problem solved.

Doubling the visual clutter without doubling the classes. Making the game even more reliant on addons. What would be the point of a class skin, when you’ll have to use an addon that hides the skin and shows the real class anyway. Count me out.

Yeah… thats the solution there could exist for people like you.

Why bother putting it in the game then. Why spend all that development time on something that everyone will be strongly encouraged to disable? The game right now is too cluttered. Now imagine that clutter, but doubled. You need to double the amount of spells you need to know in order to counter different classes. At least double, that is assuming every class gets only one class skin. If a class gets 2 skins - you need to triple the amount of spells you know.

I’d much rather Blizz spend their time making one new class than wasting it on this stupid, pointless feature that will make the game objectively worse.

Encouraged to disable? B-but I said: It would be there as an option! AN OPTION! For lazy people (like some orc warrior). Plus: Development time eh? Putting some already existing models and making two functioning buttons!?

At the point where you’re suggesting “you can just disable it lol” you’re admitting it’s a bad idea. I’ve never seen this. Unironically, I’d love the ability to disable transmog, but it’s beacuse I think transmog is a very bad system as far as player status is concerned.

I am not admitting it is a bad idea, otherwise I would not suggest this at all. I am suggesting the option to not see the skins as a SOLUTION to snowflakes like you, who fear being “confused” and stuff. If no one complains about it, it will be much, much better for me, believe me.

I am strongly for class skins. It would be nice to have more lore expression in the gameplay.
I know many people would like to see a necromancer as it’s own class instead of just a skin. But we already have death knights, warlocks and shadow priests.
A necromancer class would have to have three specs completely distinct from one another that are also different from three dk specs, three warlock specs and a shadow priest but still feel like a necromancer.
Frankly, I don’t think this is possible. Which is why I think it makes more sense to add it as a class skin.
This goes for other concepts as well.

Can’t you get all those though just from Transmog alone ?

I mean loa priest there is so much tribal/Troll looking themed gear out there.

There’s so much mog , just go farm it or buy it off the ah and you got your class skin.

Some of these would make really cool classes. It feels like a waste to make them pure skins.

There’s so much potential to WoW still. Let’s not waste it in the name of visuals. Be patient.

A class skin would change the visual effects of abilities

Blizzard said they don’t plan to add anymore classes because as you know, it’s really hard to balance them.
