Class skins?

Im not trying to give blizz any ideas… but, how cool would it be if we could reflavor out class abilities?

Like a cleric instead of a shaman with holy effects.

Or instead of guns on outlaw we could use hand crossbows and have a witch hunter vibe.

what about a paladin using swords or just holy power instead of hammer hammers and guess what HAMMERS. (or recolor with the swords in blue flame etc.)

We could have a BARD skin for mages gosh darn it!

We could have it unlockable by getting class achievements like having gained a number of levels with characters specced into that spec or something like that…

cough or they could put it in the cash shop…

I said it years ago and most peoples problem with it is it would effect PvP negatively.

Class skins would be so amazing but unfortunately its easier to just reskin a mount and sell for £20.

But blizzard would do it for money though… also pvp who?

Then disable gimmicks like this in pvp, problem solved.
Not that it matters cause your objective is to kill your opponents regardless if they are standing in a blue or green outfit, armor or dress

Why spend all that time to modeling an entire class’s animations multiple times when you can just slap red paint on a pig and sell that instead.

Blizzard isnt the same as it used to be, they’re incredibly lazy and greedy. Look at hero talents, i don’t think theres many new animations or assets tied to them.

I’m not sure why it would impact PvP any more than any other area of WoW?

The arguement last time was “how are we suppost to be able to keep an eye on what everyones doing if it looks different”

Well true, but the thing is, coming from an economic standpint, you can definetely make a class skin cost more then a mount for sure, we’re talking anywere from 30-50€ atleast. The price of an expansion for not even a 100th of the work, easiest money.

And that would be likely complained about for a few months but once accepted it’ll easily go to being one of the most purchased items.

But who do do such a thing looks at blizzard Call me

Then make them not work in PvP. Problem solved.
PvP should never get in the way of cool ideas!

You could, or you could recolour 3 mounts for a fraction of the time and cost and put them on the store for £20 each for way more profit…like they’ve been doing for 8+ years now.

Look, im all for class skins, it was an idea i had in legion. I’d love a Void paladin but I just can’t see blizzard ever doing it because im have 0 faith in them these days.

Why not both? One is not exclussive when to comes to forms and streams of income

No thanks. We already, to some extent, lost defining characteristics. Adding class skins would lead to smoothie of classes and races.

Problem where?

We already have gotten confirmed that they intend to make every class playable by every race, the smoothie is currently being prepared regardless.

But instead of a regular smoothie you can have a smoothie with a druid that shapeshifts into elements instead of forms like a frost saber of pure ice instead of a basic kitty cat, no hate to kitty cats but id take the saber.

And all of this for the small small price of 49.99€?

I want my Vulpera Druid Smoothie :dracthyr_nod:

the fact that you’ve quoted that price twice now is pretty telling of what this game has become, that price should never be justified for any cosmetic in a game but blizzard have indoctrinated it’s player base into thinking that’s an acceptable price tag.

i started playing other games and was shocked that a unique mount was only £6.99.

I hate to inform you, but as a younger gamer who has grown with microtransactions.

50€ for a skin for as much as a whole class is cheap, the times have changed.

League has a gacha system with 200€ skins.

Overwatch charges 70€ for customizable skins.

Gacha games are rising in popularity fast because they are seen as more reasonable sometimes!

The gaming sphere is seen as a market now instead of a art form, I’m sorry but the idea of cosmetics costing less then a game is a fantasy at this point… we’ve already gone too far.

Just because some companies do it, and we have people with more money than brains actually buying this, doesn’t mean this should be accepted, or become the norm.
Companies only do it, because people are letting them do it and somehow can’t seem to control themselves for buying some pixels.

What’s worse, is that those same people then try to brush it off as “it’s just 50 euro”, or “this is the norm”.

  • It’s not the norm
  • 50 euro is quite a lot of money depending on where you live

Blizzard is one of the worst culprits up their with riot at this point, they own overwatch that is so monatized it hurts.

WoW has a subscription, expansion costs, purchasable mounts, purchesable transmog, purchasable pets, purchasable services, purchasable ingame currency (gold).

And we havent touched on their TRADING CARD GAME one of the most monetized game types right next to gacha.

Point is, only some companies do it yes. And Blizzard is one of them.

I don’t condone it, at any stage, I wish we could go back where games were made as a passion project and not for revenue.

I really do, but this is simply one of the ways I could ever see this feature added in game. Not condoning it just saying a hypothetical.

among larger games it is im sorry.

Regardless of where you live that is enough to pay for multiple games, its alot of money anyway really.

I can’t say I’m excited by class skins. I think this one is just lost on me tbh.
