Classic Hunter Pet Ranks

Hey Guys,

I make this post here because i can’t create new topics on the Classic thread (already tried to relog, clear cache and such). So sorry for this .

I have a question about hunter pet ability ranks. I know that you need to learn abilities from other pets by taming them and then use that ability until it says you learned it. Is that the same for higher ranks?

Example: my cat has Claw rank 1, and i want to level that rank up. Do i need to learn from another beast that has Claw rank 2? Or do you need to learn the ability just once, and higher ranks come with it (from you ‘Train pet’ spell).

I have read wow-petopia - Classic, but i can’t find anything.

Thank you in advance!

Greets,

Yes.

No.

There are two ways for you to learn a pet ability: some abilities you can learn from a pet trainer in town, and some abilities you learn from taming creatures that already know the ability.

I will add that different levels for most skills are taught from a pet with that skill level. Passives are usually from the trainer and attack skills are from other pets.

You need to stable your pet and go out and train a pet with the skill level you want. Feed it and use it for a short while, each kill has to earn the pet XP, you will learn the skill level that it has that can be passed on to your usual pet. Learning a higher level skill will give you all the lower levels of the skill. I find a pet with 1.2 or 1.3 attack speed is best.

At level 10 train the rake for horde or a darkshore cat for alliance. You can get there using a shortcut from dun morogh, youtube has the video.

Thank you for your answer. This is by far the best one i got!

I will go with the Horde - Tauren hunter. The rake you speak of, is that a rare elite you have to tame?

Yes it’s an Elite, you don’t have to tame it but it has a very fast attack speed for it’s level, it’s easy to find as you have the detect beasts thing by then, it’s in the north-east of mulgore. I tamed it easily then moved onto Humar the Pridelord later on.

I made the /target the rake macro to lock onto it.

So it’s not that rare and the respawn time isn’t long?

Thanks for the macro!

I’ve found it every time I’ve gone looking for it.

Alright.

Thank you for help and tips. I really appreciate it.
