The problem, is when they say levelling was difficult, theyre not meaning demanding of mechanical skill.
levelling demanded a large time investment
you couldnt just run into a pack of mobs and come out alive.
sitting down and drinking was a norm for casters.
There was no difficulty to its content
There are pros and cons to how it is today, but things were inevitably lost when transitioning, you find more players from back then have had a main of over a decade where todays connection to their characters seem to be alot shorter in life.
But yes, repeating the classic grind dont feel great haha
Unlike the current game the levelling was seen as a major aspect of the process and one that you enjoyed for a long time. There was so much to do in each zone that actually benefited you greatly as you levelled. This made the processes other than questing great fun. I hardly touched questing for great periods of time particularly when I was say gathering materials to improve crafting. I would very often find like minded players that I grouped with just to get cloth say.
In truth the levelling process was the game given that there was nothing beyond classic yet. It really is a different way of looking at the game. For my part I have never gotten out of the habit of absorbing all I can levelling. End game has never interested me and that was a habit I developed from Classic.
Life for me in those days was spending my lunch breaks at work simply trying to work out how to kite the mobs out of the shack long enough so I could open the locked chest. Nowadays the game gives you a helping hand, sparkly markers and zone markers and a big arrow that says get your quest here. There was none of that so it wasnât harder it was more fun puzzle solving which has simply been removed from the game now.
?!?!?! classic leveling was fun because there was a lot of players in open world on pvp server.
today its waste of time and boring as hell. i dont need trash solo crap. there are tons much better games for solo content.
What game does that? A shooter? RPG? Mario is the only one that comes to my mind that just tosses you in and gives you all the tools right at the start
